How about we just arrest Stefanik for all of November? She's admitted her intent to commit a felony. If a poor person said shit like this they'd be locked up pronto. Possibly without bond since, you know, she's threatening the mechanisms by which democracy functions.

I watch PBS often. Thankful it's a place of quality shows. Kids, tweens & adults. I was typing while exhausted (TWE) never a wise thing to do. So with that being said...I'm outta here! Thank you Mary for giving us a place to vent & fight back!

I can well believe the autocorrect kicked in, as it so often does. I probably should have been more diplomatic about it. I'm sorry for not having been so.

Given the state of our political situation along with the fact that our so called "journalists" are failing at their chosen professions by way of kowtowing to their handlers for the big payday, I thought I was being kind (considering my first thought in terms of a response).
That said, my apologies if my comment offended you in any way, as this was not my intent. We need journalists who are not afraid to push back and challenge the narratives presented by those offered the privilege of airtime. She is in that seat because she won’t speak truth to power and she has always conducted herself in that manner precisely for that reason. I've thought abt this many times. What if everyone was armed & there weren't any metal detectors weren't there. tRump had wanted the police to take the metal detectors taken down. Especially, when you've been to the Capitol Building and breathed in all it stood for and its history gives you this special warm feeling and price of being an American. Some friends of mine won four tickets at a rally to go to Washington and meet a Senator there and have lunch with him in the Capitol Dining room. It was the weekend before 9/11 when we all felt pure, secure and safe. He was a Republican (I wasn't) but looked like all the rest with white perfect hair and teeth. Very pleasant and proud to be a Senator, and never spoke about politics. It was a very special luncheon. We did a tour of the White House and the Library. It was a fabulous weekend. I felt wrapped in the safety of DC and the History of America. Everything I thought I knew was ripped away after 9/11 and the fabric of American changed that day...and was slaughtered and maimed on Jan. 6 by a Traitor...We all had tears on that day...and if we didn't, we couldn't call ourselves Americans. We need to hang on tight and bring decency back and save this beautiful country and her History with her ideals of brother and sisterhood. Thank you, Mary, for being one of our Pioneer Leaders of this Cause and providing this space.
Omg what a beautiful post! I went to DC in high school but I would love to go back as an adult after living through those 2 horrors. I lived in NY on 9/11. I was leaving for work tv on when Isaw the 2nd plane hit. I never left my house that day. My husband was on 1 of the bridges & watched the 1st tower fall. He said he felt sick knowing a lot of ppl were going to die. He has never spoken about it again. In the days /weeks after I felt exhausted, angry and so sad. I was in sales my territory were the Burroughs but not the city. Going over the Verrazano I'd get behind dump trucks carrying debris from the powers to be dumped in Fishkill. I was reminded daily 😔 by the funerals. I met firefighters from Canada & many cities who had come to pay their respects. I was given a lapel pin from a Canadian firefighter which I cherish. I look at it every now & then. I have so much more like the flags popping up, the street memorials in Staten Island, the missing ppl's pic. I have over 100 pics but were misplaced. I'm determined to find them & share 1 every now & then. I've already written too much. Your sentiment & feelings reminded me of how much I want to go to DC. I want to get that feeling back the pride we all felt at how strong we could be in even the worst of times. I thank you so very much for your comment! Wow! Just wow! I have a friend who's mother was in one of the towers, near the top. It was at least several months before she got confirmation her mother was gone--a bit of DNA was all. She IS ok, probably normal human ability to get better after bad things happen, but partly due to having finally found a great partner, who is as crazy about her as she is about him.
If you get to DC, one of the most beautiful monuments is the FDR memorial, right near the river, if I remember correctly. (I lived there for 23 years until 1999.) The museums along the mall are wonderful...
I'm looking forward to the going to the Smithsonian's many museum. I'd love to see the FDR monument too. I thought abt the Holocaust Museum but I'd have to be in a certain mind frame to go there. I studied quite a bit abt the Holocaust thus I know it will be an extreme emotional visit.

Has anyone been arrested for the murder of Brian Sicknick? So much news, I am unable to keep up with it all. That is why I am so grateful to Mary and Joyce Vance.
2 ppl were arrested for assaulting Sicknick but the coroner's report said he died due to 2 strokes, natural causes. The 2 admitted spraying spraying 2 officers directly in the face 1 being Sicknick. But since coroner report said natural causes the judge said it wasn't enough to give them anymore jail time. They served varying amounts of time. I believe the Sicknick family brought a civil suit against them.

Coroner's? I have no faith in Coroner's. When I lived in the mountains of Virginia I heard a report of a doctor of color hung himself with his shoe laces. The Coroner said it was suicide. A reporter asked how can it be suicide when his hands were tired behind his back. The Coroner said he tired his hands so he wouldn't change his mind.
Here is another one. The young man that was set to be executed. The Coroner had No Education. No College. No Training. How did he get the job? It seems that Kristen Welker couldn’t cut it where she was, so when Chuck Todd left it was a way for NBC to replace him without facing any repercussions from her. I haven't watched Meet The Press since Tim Russert passed away. It has gotten only worse and worse since then. Once an American institution, now America's joke.
Russert was only better by comparison to Todd and Welker. Compared to Lawrence Spivak or Garrick Utley, he was a pushover. As I recall, Utley got fired because he was pushing back too hard on lying politicians.
Good points... Spivak and Utley could be considered hard-nosed professional journalists... Russert added more polish and affability but still did not suffer fools.
NBC knows they're inviting "mess" for putting Stefanik on the show in the first place.

If NBC's intent is to try to play "equal time" and legitimize her, then Welker is following either a) a spoken/contractual guideline, or b) a "wink wink nudge nudge" unspoken guideline, that she can't push back too hard or she loses the gig.

News orgs were not required to turn profits then. And who was the most trusted man in the world? Cronkite. They all told the same facts, just different voices. I've thought abt this many times. What if everyone was armed & there weren't any metal detectors weren't there. tRump had wanted the police to take the metal detectors taken down. Especially, when you've been to the Capitol Building and breathed in all it stood for and its history gives you this special warm feeling and price of being an American. Some friends of mine won four tickets at a rally to go to Washington and meet a Senator there and have lunch with him in the Capitol Dining room. It was the weekend before 9/11 when we all felt pure, secure and safe. He was a Republican (I wasn't) but looked like all the rest with white perfect hair and teeth. Very pleasant and proud to be a Senator, and never spoke about politics. It was a very special luncheon. We did a tour of the White House and the Library. It was a fabulous weekend. I felt wrapped in the safety of DC and the History of America. Everything I thought I knew was ripped away after 9/11 and the fabric of American changed that day...and was slaughtered and maimed on Jan. 6 by a Traitor...We all had tears on that day...and if we didn't, we couldn't call ourselves Americans. We need to hang on tight and bring decency back and save this beautiful country and her History with her ideals of brother and sisterhood. Omg what a beautiful post! I went to DC in high school but I would love to go back as an adult after living through those 2 horrors. I lived in NY on 9/11. I was leaving for work tv on when Isaw the 2nd plane hit. I never left my house that day. My husband was on 1 of the bridges & watched the 1st tower fall. He said he felt sick knowing a lot of ppl were going to die. He has never spoken about it again. In the days /weeks after I felt exhausted, angry and so sad. I was in sales my territory were the Burroughs but not the city. Going over the Verrazano I'd get behind dump trucks carrying debris from the powers to be dumped in Fishkill. I was reminded daily 😔 by the funerals. I met firefighters from Canada & many cities who had come to pay their respects. I was given a lapel pin from a Canadian firefighter which I cherish. I look at it every now & then. I have so much more like the flags popping up, the street memorials in Staten Island, the missing ppl's pic. I have over 100 pics but were misplaced. I'm determined to find them & share 1 every now & then. I've already written too much. Your sentiment & feelings reminded me of how much I want to go to DC. I want to get that feeling back the pride we all felt at how strong we could be in even the worst of times. I thank you so very much for your comment! Wow! Just wow! I have a friend who's mother was in one of the towers, near the top. It was at least several months before she got confirmation her mother was gone--a bit of DNA was all. She IS ok, probably normal human ability to get better after bad things happen, but partly due to having finally found a great partner, who is as crazy about her as she is about him.
If you get to DC, one of the most beautiful monuments is the FDR memorial, right near the river, if I remember correctly. (I lived there for 23 years until 1999.) The museums along the mall are wonderful...
I'm looking forward to the going to the Smithsonian's many museum. I'd love to see the FDR monument too. I thought abt the Holocaust Museum but I'd have to be in a certain mind frame to go there. I studied quite a bit abt the Holocaust thus I know it will be an extreme emotional visit.

2 ppl were arrested for assaulting Sicknick but the coroner's report said he died due to 2 strokes, natural causes. The 2 admitted spraying spraying 2 officers directly in the face 1 being Sicknick. But since coroner report said natural causes the judge said it wasn't enough to give them anymore jail time. They served varying amounts of time. I believe the Sicknick family brought a civil suit against them.

Coroner's? I have no faith in Coroner's. When I lived in the mountains of Virginia I heard a report of a doctor of color hung himself with his shoe laces. The Coroner said it was suicide. AND I blame SCOTUS for passing Citizens United, allowing massive amounts of dark money into campaigns.

I haven't watched Meet The Press since Tim Russert passed away. It has gotten only worse and worse since then. Once an American institution, now America's joke.
Russert was only better by comparison to Todd and Welker. Compared to Lawrence Spivak or Garrick Utley, he was a pushover. As I recall, Utley got fired because he was pushing back too hard on lying politicians.
Good points... Spivak and Utley could be considered hard-nosed professional journalists... Russert added more polish and affability but still did not suffer fools.
