If all that happens, we’re safe.

I am very sad that it's come to this because Biden has been a great president whose achievements have not gotten anything close to a fair evaluation in the media. Biden won in 2020 because the majority of voters wanted a moderate Democrat and a Democrat with experience both domestically and internationally. Biden fit that category. If Biden does step down now, we must unite and vote for whichever Democrat is our candidate. If Biden continues as our candidate, we must unite, as Mary is saying so brilliantly, and ensure that Biden wins, as he did twice now against the fascist. I don’t remember Biden saying that he would serve only one term. I think it was a speculation by many that he will not seek a second term because of his age. I do think he said he would evaluate before deciding (I am paraphrasing). That makes perfect sense to me.
From the current projections Dems are likely to win the House but lose the Senate. So it is important to donate what we can to the senate candidates who may be in danger of losing. With my limited funds I can only donate to two senate candidates and Biden. One of those senate candidates is Gallego from my state. I made a donation to Sherrod Brown today but I am not optimistic about his chances.
Article II, section 2, of the Constitution provides that the Senate confirms presidential appointments of federal judges and Supreme Court justices, ambassadors, cabinet members, and many other federal officials. Mitch McConnell refused to allow the Senate to confirm Merrick Garland. If Biden or another Democrat is elected president this year, then I wouldn't be surprised if a Republican Senate refuses to confirm ANY presidential nomination for ANY office. The Republicans, after all, do not believe that the government should do anything but lower rich people's and corporations' taxes.

I agree we need to keep fighting but I'm not sure what that means. I donate, write postcards, talk to everyone I can but I'm hoping that there is some back room plan to do something. I feel terribly helpless and vacillate between Biden and alternative. My problem is that I don't think any alternative can win at this late date. Today I saw a hopeful sign. I have a small house in a small southern town named Edenton NC. It is purely conservative. Standing out front of a local variety store called Roses a young African American man stood there with a bunch of voter registration forms in his hand asking me Sir are you registered to vote. I looked at him and grinned yes I certainly am. I then said “you don’t know how much I appreciate you in this moment. You are awesome son” He told me thank you and you could see a twinkle in his eye. I went in and shopped a bit and brought him an Iced Green tea. He was so grateful as I was grateful for him. I asked him could I help you hand these out? He graciously agreed so here we were the old 70 year old white guy proudly standing with this young Black teenager named Abraham. We handed out at least 50 to voters who were not registered in the next couple hours in the hot NC sun. I told Abraham I loved him and hoped he’d keep active for all of us. We hugged each other as I went home. Today this July 4th 2023 Abraham gave me hope as he should give us all hope. From the current projections Dems are likely to win the House but lose the Senate. So it is important to donate what we can to the senate candidates who may be in danger of losing. With my limited funds I can only donate to two senate candidates and Biden. One of those senate candidates is Gallego from my state. I made a donation to Sherrod Brown today but I am not optimistic about his chances.
Article II, section 2, of the Constitution provides that the Senate confirms presidential appointments of federal judges and Supreme Court justices, ambassadors, cabinet members, and many other federal officials. Mitch McConnell refused to allow the Senate to confirm Merrick Garland. If Biden or another Democrat is elected president this year, then I wouldn't be surprised if a Republican Senate refuses to confirm ANY presidential nomination for ANY office. The Republicans, after all, do not believe that the government should do anything but lower rich people's and corporations' taxes.

Today I saw a hopeful sign. I have a small house in a small southern town named Edenton NC. It is purely conservative. Standing out front of a local variety store called Roses a young African American man stood there with a bunch of voter registration forms in his hand asking me Sir are you registered to vote. I looked at him and grinned yes I certainly am. I then said “you don’t know how much I appreciate you in this moment. You are awesome son” He told me thank you and you could see a twinkle in his eye. I went in and shopped a bit and brought him an Iced Green tea. He was so grateful as I was grateful for him. I asked him could I help you hand these out? He graciously agreed so here we were the old 70 year old white guy proudly standing with this young Black teenager named Abraham. We handed out at least 50 to voters who were not registered in the next couple hours in the hot NC sun. I told Abraham I loved him and hoped he’d keep active for all of us. We hugged each other as I went home. Today this July 4th 2023 Abraham gave me hope as he should give us all hope. Let’s stop talking and get working doing the hard work for that’s what it’s going to take together. That’s our super power. Let’s use it like never before. Namaste 🙏 all. Wes Lassiter

I can’t understand why there is no action going on to fight this decision by the Supreme Court. People, call Dick Durbin. He is the Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee. His number is 202-224-7703. Call and ask why he is not doing anything about the Supreme Courts obvious corruption!!!!
I live in Illinois and have called his office demanding he do his effing job. If you live in Illinois, we could band together and force durbins hand. He has been too complacent for too long.

I think the main reason is because Obama could then be indicted for ordering a drone strike that killed an American citizen and his son, without going through due process. That's a biggie. In America, even home-grown terrorists are protected by the rule of law with due process.

I want to add this: Chris Hayes made a defiant request on his show for everyone to accept that even if the shithead is elected again, it DOES NOT NECESSARILY MEAN THE END OF OUR DEMOCRACY. It's up to US: are we going to obey in advance by conceding the race to Project 2025 and Kevin "resistance is futile" Borg Roberts??? Resistance is NOT FUTILE AND ROBERTS IS NOT ANYTHING LIKE THE BORG: he's just a little tiny man who wants to rule over LOTS of liberals by wagging his dick in the air and telling us we have to submit.
