My point here is that the MAGA crowd will not exhibit that humility. I am thinking that if we take the proper precautions, and they do not, it will be they who die, not we. As a survivor of child abuse, I hate the thought of people normalizing it. It has a very serious bad effect on the victims and recovery is difficult. The net result is that something that has long been widespread will probably wreck most children, and more often than not, those children pass it on when they become adults. That is both frightening and very sad.
Me, too. My body apparently shut down, so I never did get pregnant even though there was a definite possibility on several occasions. Thank you for making such a good choice. It's not an easy one, given that I was raised to believe I should get married and have children. I still sometimes feel the loss, but reason tells me it's good that I never had children.
Actually most are not seriously harmed, only 23% are traumatized and badly harmed, effects are mild to moderate in most, by college half of women who were molested are over it, and 17% of them LIKE it. The typical reaction is ambivalence and confusion. A survey of teenage girls molested as kids asked them about their sexual abuse and half of them said “I don’t consider that abuse.” Typical reaction. Kids don’t know what sex is so the typical reaction is confusion or “that was weird.”

I don't think I'm different from the majority of of sexual abuse survivors. I repressed my memories, and if you do that, you pass on the abuse. It's a reflex action. That's what happened with my parents. Perhaps you are talking about other kinds of abuse than sexual?
I guess some people repress them. But they for so many kids it is so inconsequential (they just think, “Wow that was weird”), that they quite literally forget about it. I guess you can remember stuff later on that you forgot, snd that’s what a lot of recovered memories are all about.
I'm sorry, but I will not check out that book. Trauma is NOT a myth, in my experience and the experience of a whole lot of other people, both male and female.
What she means is that not everyone who has bad things happen to them gets traumatized and s lot of the trauma is not because of the act but because of emotions generated by the victim which are unnecessary like shame and guilt.
She says we’re making all this stuff worse. We are harming the victims ourselves by our reaction to the event - by making a big deal about it. “Oh that was so horrible! That bad man! He did that terrible thing to you! It must have hurt you so badly! We will send you to a therapist to help you get better!”
The kid thought, “Whoa that was weird!” after getting molested because kids don’t know what sex is and that’s the typical reaction to getting molested. Well by freaking out sbout it we just made everything worse.
The kid internalizes that she’s been damaged, harmed, this terrible thing happened! And then the damage starts to appear which is frankly self-harming.

But don’t let men do stupid things like that to you.” She got over it with no ill effects. I’m told that’s how it was treated back then.
The reason everyone thinks women are ruined for decades or life is because THOSE ARE THE ONLY ONES WHO SHOW UP FOR THERAPY, those are the only ones we see. All the others just go on their merry way.

Possibly these kids who get over it don't have constant repetitive injury from infancy to puberty like I did. But I read a book (from Ali Velshi's banned book club) by a woman who was raped at age 12, and who, even though she claims she has gotten a lot of healing, proves with what she writes about how she is currently, that she hasn't had real healing. I wonder how many girls who went through that were shamed into believe it was nothing. Maybe shamed isn't the correct word. I agree that kids can get over stuff, but I continue to believe that serious sexual abuse is not something one gets over without significant help.
No that’s not so and I don’t even know what serious molestation is. I don’t like the term sexual abuse. In Denmark one half of women molested as girls said “I don’t consider that abuse.”
I met a woman recently who was molested for a long time by her father and she liked it! And that reaction is WAY more common than you think. I’ve met so many women like that.

I have daughters, and I want them to have rights. Just know that, when everything comes to light and you regret your vote, you must eat your words and take responsibility for it. The only reason that the Ethics Committee would refuse to release the report is that what it would reveal is worse than what has already been revealed. During Gaetz's confirmation hearings, the Democrats must repeat that again and again. Then they should challenge the Republicans that, if it's not true that they are covering up something worse than what has already been revealed, all they have to do is to release the report.

That is enough to buy the better part of 2 billion COVID shots at full price. Even people like George Soros and JB Pritzker pale in comparison.

As a survivor of child abuse, I hate the thought of people normalizing it. It has a very serious bad effect on the victims and recovery is difficult. The net result is that something that has long been widespread will probably wreck most children, and more often than not, those children pass it on when they become adults. That is both frightening and very sad.

I don't think I'm different from the majority of of sexual abuse survivors. I repressed my memories, and if you do that, you pass on the abuse. It's a reflex action. That's what happened with my parents. Perhaps you are talking about other kinds of abuse than sexual?
I guess some people repress them. But they for so many kids it is so inconsequential (they just think, “Wow that was weird”), that they quite literally forget about it. I guess you can remember stuff later on that you forgot, snd that’s what a lot of recovered memories are all about.

I'm sorry, but I will not check out that book. Trauma is NOT a myth, in my experience and the experience of a whole lot of other people, both male and female.
What she means is that not everyone who has bad things happen to them gets traumatized and s lot of the trauma is not because of the act but because of emotions generated by the victim which are unnecessary like shame and guilt.
She says we’re making all this stuff worse. We are harming the victims ourselves by our reaction to the event - by making a big deal about it. “Oh that was so horrible! That bad man! He did that terrible thing to you! It must have hurt you so badly! We will send you to a therapist to help you get better!”
The kid thought, “Whoa that was weird!” after getting molested because kids don’t know what sex is and that’s the typical reaction to getting molested. Well by freaking out sbout it we just made everything worse.
The kid internalizes that she’s been damaged, harmed, this terrible thing happened! And then the damage starts to appear which is frankly self-harming.
It’s written by a woman. She is very kindhearted and s good person. She wants victims to get better.

Nope. Check out Ritter et al 1991. I’ve known a number of women who got molested and liked it! And others were like, “Ah, you know, oh well,” totally nonchalant about it.
Also my aunt got molested as a girl and in those days (1940’s) they didn’t freak out about it. They treated like it was no big deal, just forget about it. “He was weird and stupid. But don’t let men do stupid things like that to you.” She got over it with no ill effects. I’m told that’s how it was treated back then.
The reason everyone thinks women are ruined for decades or life is because THOSE ARE THE ONLY ONES WHO SHOW UP FOR THERAPY, those are the only ones we see. All the others just go on their merry way.
There are mild to moderate short term effects, but 50% of women are over it by college. The effects are mostly shame and guilt, and we can train women not to feel this way.
People underestimate just how resilient kids are! Kids get over stuff. They get over lots of stuff
For sure 23% of women wgo got molested are traumatized and seriously harmed, MSF that adds up to a lot of women.
Possibly these kids who get over it don't have constant repetitive injury from infancy to puberty like I did. But I read a book (from Ali Velshi's banned book club) by a woman who was raped at age 12, and who, even though she claims she has gotten a lot of healing, proves with what she writes about how she is currently, that she hasn't had real healing. I wonder how many girls who went through that were shamed into believe it was nothing. Maybe shamed isn't the correct word. I agree that kids can get over stuff, but I continue to believe that serious sexual abuse is not something one gets over without significant help.
No that’s not so and I don’t even know what serious molestation is. I don’t like the term sexual abuse. In Denmark one half of women molested as girls said “I don’t consider that abuse.”
I met a woman recently who was molested for a long time by her father and she liked it! And that reaction is WAY more common than you think. I’ve met so many women like that.
There’s nothing wrong with telling them it’s nothing. That’s how they will get over it.
Long lasting molestation from 3 to 12 could indeed be mare traumatic. You sound like you buy into the bullshit that everyone who gets molested is traumatized badly. I recently dated three women, all around 50. They’d all been molested and they all shrugged it off like it was nothing snd they were over it.

I have been quiet since the harrowing election results; until the last couple of weeks, in no way do they align. People were even leaving Trump's rallies. A requested recount, like he did in 2020, should be pursued. Dragging out this process will reveal any evidence and ultimately lead to his imprisonment for his many crimes. As all of you know, if any of us had 34 felony convictions, we would never see the light of day again. And yet, he is able to run for public office?
I believe that voters were paid off and a large number of votes were intentionally disregarded. A significant portion of the population reported not receiving their mail-in ballots. Given the influence of money on politics, it is highly probable that Trump, being well-connected to billionaires, utilized corrupt tactics to secure his victory in this election. I have daughters, and I want them to have rights. Just know that, when everything comes to light and you regret your vote, you must eat your words and take responsibility for it. Whatever happens from this point forward will not be the fault of those of us who tried to warn you.

I don't understand at all why Kamala would not order a recount as we KNOW that ballots were 'lost', 'not received from registered voters that KNOW they mailed them correctly, bomb threats made to disrupt the voting locations, and more - trump himself spewing the words 'I don't need your votes' at his rallies...wtf would he say that - he was SO SURE at that point that he was going to win...HOW????? The only reason that the Ethics Committee would refuse to release the report is that what it would reveal is worse than what has already been revealed. During Gaetz's confirmation hearings, the Democrats must repeat that again and again. Then they should challenge the Republicans that, if it's not true that they are covering up something worse than what has already been revealed, all they have to do is to release the report.
