Thank you, Mary. I had a ticket to the event and was able to livestream the afternoon talks. So glad so many brilliant people are on the case. There’s hope after all.

Was at the summit today. Michael Cohen got very irate at the accusation from Ivana, that trump raped her. He got bent out of joint & proclaimed that could not possibly be true.

Unless Michael Cohen slept in the same bed with Donald & Ivana, he is in no position to throw a fit against Ivana.

Not only dismissing her accusation but he went on about “English was her fifth language”

I am pretty sure rape translates into all languages meaning the same thing.

I have a hard time with Michael Cohen representing himself as reinvented when this happens.

hello Mary and group. Can you clarify if its possible to watch after the event? I am working Wednesday and can't live stream. I did purchase a ticket through eventbrite. Thanks very much

Folks! This is a comments section on Mary's posts, not a venue for airing personal political opinions leading inevitably down the rabbit hole. Mary, perhaps you, or someone else could list a step-by-step procedure for signing up for the livestream, as there are probably a good number of older folks to whom that may be a foreign exercise. In list form (i.e. bullets or numbers for each separate step or click). The summit sounds awesome, I hope there's an open questions period.

Deborah: Your comment was thought-provoking and chilling. You said and I’ll quote: “This is a comments section on Mary's posts, not a venue for airing personal political opinions leading inevitably down the rabbit hole.”

I was not aware that Mary did not welcome political comments, nor that she promoted self-censorship. Are you expressing your opinion or Mary’s? It seemed she sought to encourage people to express rather than repress their truth; as an antidote to the fascist surge.

I also found interesting that you stated as fact what seems to be mere opinion and personal bias: “… airing personal political opinions [lead] inevitably down the rabbit hole.” Of course, I support your right to express your opinion, as a comment, but would have appreciated more info supporting your statement. The rule you seem to impose perhaps should appear as a banner under Mary’s name so that we may be aware of the gag order with respect to politics so as to avoid offending you and others that share your point of view with political commentaries. BTW, attempts to suppress political commentaries may be a political act and/or commentary; antithetical democratic values.

Robert, thanks for your opinion and concern. Let me disabuse you of some of your assumptions. I have always supported the most progressive policies in America, (including those regarding the 1st amendment) sometimes to my own chagrin--like Nazis' right to march in Skokie etc... which I find dehumanizing and disgusting. So lets get straight up, you're speaking to a very progressive person, but someone equally concerned with discernment, mindfulness and compassion, politeness, self-awareness and courtesy. Among other of such qualities. Anyone paying close attention to the thread, would discern that it was quickly devolving from its main function for comments on Mary's post/writings, to people's personal political opinions. That's neither an appropriate place for such, nor useful commentary, when one is interested in reading responses to Mary's work, not hearing people's own personal echo chambers. It is rude, inconsiderate and ungracious to use someone's personal platform where they have opened their opinions and writings to comments, to simply air one's own. Don't get me wrong, comments seem to me the place for opinions, IN CONTEXT of the site owner's statements/writings/questions etc... But in my (admittedly cursory) reading of the comment thread, people were in fact, joining Alice and the Rabbit.

Perhaps, before so nesciently commenting on my intentions, you should first discover and confirm from the source. Mansplain or scold later, Robert, if your temperament leaves you that sole option.

I will however, more than admit to sometimes writing things in a too rushed way, and without the grace I have espoused here. That was not my intention; I believe most people understood, when their direction was refocused back on the thread, that it had derailed from intelligent commentary on Mary's post. Political opinion is everyone's right in this country--I simply don't enjoy inhabiting spaces where people (even unconsciously) evince a lack of grace, protocol, and basic courtesy. If you needed further explanation of basic politeness and consideration online, before recklessly, and falsely assuming (subsequent to libelously stating) I intended to suppress anything or anyone, perhaps taking a few steps back to contemplate would be warranted.

Just signed up and will try to be at the live event! It's a workday, though, so we'll have see, but I'm cheering you on, either way. Would love to see/meet you in person!

What a compelling workshop, with such a stellar group of speakers! I'm delighted that you

will be there. Thanks so much for telling us about this. It really made me sigh with relief that such an intelligent group is addressing this terrifying problem.

My advice to Pres. Biden is to simplify his Economic message. Drop “Bidenomics” immediately. It sounds prissy and dated. Talk directly to people about what happens in countries run by a Dictator. Ask questions of ordinary people and Listen to them. Direct answers to what is asked. Most of all Pivot to Center. There are more “good” Republicans to work with than MAGA Republicans.

"Middle-class" -- may be the best term. It requires no explanation either.

I think we need to define our terms; what is a good and a MAGA Republican. If what you say was true the GOP would not have sold its soul to Trump & his mentor, Putin. They would not be helping those don’t need it & screwing those who do. The good Republicans would have expelled the bad ones long ago.

As a Dem, I advise Biden to do the opposite of what you suggest, he should cater rather than betray his base. He should stop enabling and placating fascists at home & abroad. He should protect the Earth rather than be complicit in Her plunder. He should emulate FDR and be Trump’s antipode; reform immigration, treat migrants with respect, bring down the wall instead of trying to finish it. He needs to find the courage to fight for M4A rather than for the profits of insurance companies. He needs to withdraw support for Israel and embrace the victims, Palestinians. He needs to stop fist-bumping murderers of journalists. Americans don’t respect pusillanimous milquetoast presidents. He needs to declare a climate emergency, stop the sale of oil abroad, add a carbon tax, protect carbon sinks, leave oil underground, etc. I must end the rant with Biden should should sto trying to enable and placate fascist MAGA bullies and thuggish Republicans who deserve prosecution instead. Biden needs to recognize the MAGA GOP want another civil war. He needs to threaten SCOTUS and label white supremacist terrorist as a security threat. Guns are a national security threat and should be treated as such. I hope I’m not being condescending, but found, as a Dem, the advice disingenuous and contraindicated. If followed, many Dems would likely not bother to vote, precisely what MAGA GOP wants; both those in the closet and admitted members of the cult of Trump, et al.

The above is just a partial list of what Biden should and should not do. In a nutshell, he should embrace progressive politics and bury, finally, Reagan’s neoliberalism and seal the coffin.

You obviously have very firm views about what the US people desire. As I am also a registered Democrat who worked hard to get Biden elected in 2020, perhaps I can disagree with your Sanderista stance. At my age, 81, I want to assure you there are indeed many ethical Republicans who love our democracy and our country. In order to be elected again, Biden (or ?) will need to appeal to Dems, Independents and those Republicans who know how dismal and destructive an Autocracy is.

I can assure you that any Republican who heard the Access Hollywood tape and voted for Trump is not a "good" Republican.

In order for me to believe your assertion, I think they must be living with no access to TV or the internet.

You want me to believe they never heard that tape? They even used it for sexual harassment training at Fox News.

They knew. They all knew how awful Trump was. And they fell in line and supported him anyway.

These are not "good Republicans". 😬

Errata

My oversight, I found the link. Registration for livestream is one day before the event, Tuesday, 10/11.

How do we register for “live-streaming?” The way indicated doesn’t work! This summit should be accessible to the widest audience possible, if we’re serious.

The psychology of fascism is quite interesting, as most fascist leaders have been sadistic sociopaths.
