How gullible do they think we are?
My uncle and his allies in the corporate media want us to believe, with absolutely no evidence, that he’s a changed man. They want us to believe he cares about unity and “lowering the temperature.” But the people he chooses to surround himself with make it crystal clear that nothing could be further from the truth.
Tonight, Donald accepts the Republican nomination for the presidency (which is a sentence nobody should have ever have had to write). Put another way — on Thursday night, a convicted felon and adjudicated rapist who launched a violent attack on the United States Capitol accepted the Republican nomination for the presidency after tens of millions of Americans chose him.
But Donald isn’t the only horrible and horribly violent person to appear on that stage.
Ultimate Fighting Champion founder Dana White will be introducing Donald. This, just a year after White apologized when video leaked of him punching his wife in the head repeatedly. What message is Donald trying to send here? Part of it is borrowed masculinity (toxic or otherwise) because Donald, despite his delusions otherwise, is not a tough guy. But perhaps it’s also the same message he sent when he walked into the arena on Wednesday night to James Brown’s “It’s a Man’s, Man’s, Man’s World.” As far as he and the Republican Party are considered, it is a man’s world. It also might be the same message Donald sent when he picked anti-abortion misogynist JD Vance to be his running mate. In their man’s world, women are to be controlled and subjugated.
Donald also invited wrestler Hulk Hogan to speak. That’s the same Hulk Hogan was fired from professional wrestling for being a racist; the man who used Silicon Valley billionaire Peter Thiel’s money to destroy Gawker after they outed Hogan as a racist who uses the n-word. Sounds exactly like Donald’s kind of guy.
Thursday night’s lineup was just a continuation of the insult to American ideals we witnessed throughout the week. Whether it was Peter Navarro getting a standing ovation after his release from prison on Monday, or Rep. Matt Gaetz addressing the crowd just before former Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy accused him of sex trafficking minors; or criminal and traitor Paul Manafort (whom Donald pardoned) traipsing through the convention hall, the message from Donald to the country is unmistakable — they are above the law now, they are coming for everything you hold sacred, and they don’t care if you know it. There are no dog whistles anymore—only bullhorns.
The people in the crowd wave signs that read “Mass Deportation Now;” one speaker said that undocumented immigrants should “start packing.” Yet corporate media reporters, seemingly oblivious to what is unfolding right before their eyes—at least when it contradicts their preferred narrative—go on television and tell us about the convention’s “toned down” rhetoric and the Republican Party’s remarkable unity. Perhaps they should focus more on the dangerous people who have gathered to celebrate their lawlessness, their impunity, and their determination to end American democracy.
Over the past week, Donald spent time with Tucker Carlson, a white supremacist who adores human trafficker and rapist Andrew Tate, and kisses Putin’s ass. Carlson, among the most vile media figures in America, apparently helped Donald pick his running mate.
On Monday, Donald spoke with Robert F. Kennedy Jr., an anti-vaxxer who has also been accused of sexual assault. Donald and Bob shared some delusional misinformation about vaccines and then Bob made it clear that he’s in the race as an independent with the sole purpose of helping Donald win.
The crowd did actually boo someone, though. Mitch McConnell, a lifelong Republican who has been one of the greatest traitors to America since Robert E. Lee; a man who has destroyed the Senate and rigged the Supreme Court—perhaps permanently in Republican’s favor, is apparently not evil and destructive enough for them.
It’s been a deeply upsetting week because it is a preview of what’s to come if Donald and the Republicans win. All of these deplorable, anti-American fascists will be given an open invitation to infiltrate and then destroy the federal government. That plan that is explicitly laid out in Donald’s Project 2025. They will pledge their loyalty Donald, not our country or to our Constitution. They will hurt countless Americans, and they will take sick pleasure in doing so.
Take a good look at the people Donald invited to his convention. Take a good look at the things they have said and done. Take a good look at the future they want for this country.
And then please join me in doing everything we can to stop them.
Thanks for all the work you do. It must be frustrating knowing how major media is so inept or in collusion.
We cannot allow this to happen again! We must show up and show out for our future generations 💙
