A slight departure from our usual format so I can pay homage to three great artists who took a stand against Spotify.
The output of these extraordinary musicians is so vast and the quality of their songs so off the charts that picking only one was quite a task but I can’t really have gone wrong.
NEIL YOUNG
“The Needle and the Damage Done” is my favorite Neil Young song and also one of my favorite songs period.
JONI MITCHELL
“Amelia” is a track from Mitchell’s 1975 album Hejira but I didn’t hear it for the first time until 1994. I think listening to it as an adult (albeit a young one) made a huge difference in the way the song resonated with me.
NILS LOFGREN
There are so many songs I could have picked but tonight this is the first one that came to mind. I love you Nils and Amy.
