We cancelled SPOTIFY and noted reason as being unwilling to support a platform for both COVID conspiracy disinformation and abject racism. Vote with your vote and vote with your dollar, right?
I checked my Spotify account and it says it is the "Free" version. I can only log out of it. I have a YouTube Premium account since I listen and watch to music videos on YouTube.
Neil Young wrote this lyric that always stuck inside me," I see the needle and the damage done, a little part of it in everyone..." The Damage being done today is the number of deaths from the Pandemic. So many are preventable...
And, in support of these artists, this family canceled its Spotify account with the admonition that we would not be back until they stopped providing a soapbox for wackos.
Agreed with your Neil Young choice, though I've always been more partial to "Sugar Mountain". I remember being at a Joni Mitchell concert when she stopped in the middle to announce that Richard Nixon had resigned. While she received an incredible ovation when she finished the show, I don't think it matched the response to that announcement.
Keep up your excellent commentaries and fabulous music/artist posts. Thank you.
Great post and songs, especially love Amelia and Shot at You. Grateful to these artists for taking a stand, it’s so important right now. Hope to see more, and not just artists. And you deserve recognition for doing so, too. Thanks for doing what is right and necessary, and for just being a good human!
Hopefully, more Spotify artists will follow suit, I saw Rogan saying "I need to have expert views" as well as his own, translated: "Ive Hit My Peak better back track and save what I can" The Scummy Part is that Spotify is gonna try to save Rogan's image While Losing Real Artists, Power Of Ratings Vs Tenure, Rogan Is on Decline like Uncle Donald's Cult, We must register and vote our butts off this year, to equalize stress if last five years PEACE
Rogan will no doubt get new subscribers but hopefully enough people follow the lead of these three phenomenal artists and even more phenomenal human beings.
The Needle and The Damage Done is in my top 15 favorite songs as is Ohio. I've been listening to them for 50 years and they still have a deep emotional impact. I remember racing to Tower to get Ladies of the Canyon 52 years ago and listening to it until it wore out! Her impact on music can't be measured. And Nils, holy cow! The guy played 4 hour concerts without a break! They were maniacs and kept is all on our feet, and coming hope sore and deaf! I remember these things like they were yesterday. I'm 66 and was lucky enough to have been around when they were all starting out. The memories their music evokes can't be replaced, and universe willing, won't ever be forgotten. By leaving Spotify they're just showing us who they are and how much of an impact they're still having! Thank you for putting them here Mary!

The song is heartbreaking and unnecessary COVID deaths are an unspeakable tragedy.

Great story!
Wow, how cool was that??
Totally amazing!
Absolutely!
I’m with Neil also. Cowgirl in the Sand is my favorite. But then Harvest Moon is right up there. Hell they’re all up there.🎸
Thank you for the musical selection tonight, Mary! I liked all 3 of them.

Picking only one song for each of them was almost impossible but spending the evening trying to narrow it down was very pleasant.
Great picks Mary!
I cancelled Spotify days ago. #GrabYourWallet
Neil Young has his own station on SiriusXM from now until Feb. 26.
So cool.
Mary, you are AWESOME…👏👏👏
Cancelled my Spotify account. Neil Young is woven into the very fabric of my being. Been listening to his music since the beginning of his journey.
