Mary! You are marvelously Melville-esque tonight!

Isn't it wonderful?!

Hi Mary, I was so sorry to hear you lost your lawsuit with Trump. I was really pulling for you. Please Mary talk about how important it is that we also prosecute and remove from congress the congressmen and others that were involved in helping Trump and spreading lies . It drives me crazy that my taxpayer dollars pay the salaries of these traitors. They all took oaths swearing to protect the constitution and then did what they wanted for power. These people should not be left to serve in our congress and as house speaker or any other office in our government. They should go to China or Russia or some other country if they want to live like that but they have no place in our government. ! It haunts me everyday they are in those seats.

Thank you, Mary. My furbabies & I are warm & cozy this night but I don’t look far into the future anymore; it is too unpredictable. I relish memories of feeling so very secure, so very young, so naive and uninformed, so immortal.

The phrase comes to mind: too soon old; too late wise. But I’m not dead yet.....fighting inequity, the whole deal until I can no more.

I'm happy you and Cap are warm and safe. I'm in St. Petersburg, FL. The worst thing going on here is the pollen. Any balloon sightings? LOL

Ann, I’m from St Pete Fl - in Denver now. Mayb

Hi Dana, your message cut off.

Hi Ann, that happens a lot and I get frustrated and move on. St Pete was a great place to grow up. But then that was back in the 50s and life was a lot freer and easier then. But even as a kid, the blatant racism was hard to understand and take. But after my first trip West, I knew I fit in better out here. St Pete is still very Whitey tighty. And now DeSantis??? Ugh. I’d have a lot more problems than pollen!

Wow, that's awesome but weird!

I live in northern New England where this morning was -17 and it "felt like" -38. Over on Mt Washington it had a windchill of -104! 😳

I understand the sentiment of disturbing amounts of wood. This small cottage is heated by only a wood stove that works hard all winter 😁

Is it spring yet? Thanks for all you do in helping to keep sanity

I feel you. In Manhattan, but the wind is like typhoon.

Way back when I was a college student at Stony Brook we had a brutal winter when the Long Island Sound froze. Yes, you could potentially ice skate to Connecticut. I was living in Rocky Point and I remember looking out over the Sound from the cliffs over the beach and it looked like Antarctica.

We have a family story about one member, a lighthouse keeper back in the days of yore, walking across Long Island Sound to get medicine for his wife. Now that's love!

Glad to hear you and Cap are safe and warm. Last night here in New York the howling wind was brutal. This morning I grabbed my flask of brandy and off to answer heating issues . I saw downed tree limbs very little traffic. For me the stillness and the quiet was calming. It’s times like this that gives you pause to reflect on what’s important.

The exact same thing happens to me. The stillness and quiet are calming.

Your clip of the bay is amazing. Very ominous. I too am sitting in front of the fire - for several days now (upstate). It's been -12 degrees, and now just above zero. But I just got a weather alert that tomorrow is going to be in the 40s. Yay!

Cap needs a warmed cat bed! The things they make for cats are endless.

Oh, it takes real style to weather weather like this. You’ve got it! Cap is so beautiful. We have a fluffy black kitty named Magia, who says hello — in her fashion.
