A lot of people to hate. I have three friends I love who are still Trump supporters. They’re highly intelligent and aren’t racists (one is a woman). Nothing anyone says to counter their support of him pierces their devotion to him. I’ve given up. They’re all financially very secure, so they DGAF that he’ll end Medicare, Social Security, and Medicaid, and in doing so will devastate millions of people (including my partner and me). Selfishness reigns.
Wondering if your 'intelligent' friends really are; for me the term includes and denotes the emotional parts/ components as well. When Trump's whole approach to people is absolutely larded with emotionality which he knows perfectly well he can evoke in others with his antics, and when he does not propose anything now that helps people in general IE he obviously doesn't understand how the government works and certainly not international affairs, should this not be very obvious to an intelligent person - who really is? Intelligence is both born and acquired further by study, application, and an ability to keep an open mind which includes emotions and owning them. A person can be good at what they are indeed good at while still being ignorant about other primary things, out of whatever motivates or demotivates that person. An excellent and unfortunately good example is Bush's teach to the test of about 20 years ago, one of the worst things to happen to our school systems quality of learning. Memorizing a bunch of items can make you good at those items, but it doesn't engage the other and numerous parts of the brain among them the feeling parts and how they affect absolutely everything else. I would love to see Kamala turn this around, and way more Democrats and moderates run for school board among many other places :-)

In fact, the opposite has become true. American Jews are now radically Orthodox, and care exclusively about Israeli expansionism. Only Netenyahu's poster hangs in shuls around this country, especially in Brooklyn. As a 'lapsed Jew' I find that the progressive ideas and cultural contributions by the amazing generation of truely forward thinking American Reform Jews between 1945-1980, is in fact DEAD, for over 40 years.

Michael, well laid out and, to add to my own response is this one from my 30 or so years of being among reconstructionist and renewal Jews and synagogues. I have come to understand Judaism as a peoplehood which is definitely something I live with and by. The way we have over these thousands of years interpreted the mysterious words and commandments especially through the Talmudic commentary guides for every day life living in families and communities, and constantly reinterpreted by today's rabbis and congregations as weekly Torah study and discussion which I find instructive and thoughtful because we are taking a modern view at an old story and finding value in the study itself.

I agree. And other than choosing him, this couple isn’t evil in any other way (from what I know). They’re not racist or antisemitic; they’re friends with LGBTQI people; they’re not religious fanatics, though my female friend has gotten more religious (Catholic) recently.

Except there would need to be an auto-mute timer on the microphones. No way DT will stick to a time limit. Visible to countdown clocks so everyone knows the limits. Also I suggest separate sound-proofed booths that can be darkened at the end of the time limit. Would make for an interesting “debate”.
Donald would go off on a rant cut-off midway and Kamala would answer that same question in a coherent and complete manner that actually makes sense when she finished within the time limit.

Intelligence is both born and acquired further by study, application, and an ability to keep an open mind which includes emotions and owning them. A person can be good at what they are indeed good at while still being ignorant about other primary things, out of whatever motivates or demotivates that person. An excellent and unfortunately good example is Bush's teach to the test of about 20 years ago, one of the worst things to happen to our school systems quality of learning. Memorizing a bunch of items can make you good at those items, but it doesn't engage the other and numerous parts of the brain among them the feeling parts and how they affect absolutely everything else. I would love to see Kamala turn this around, and way more Democrats and moderates run for school board among many other places :-)

Only Netenyahu's poster hangs in shuls around this country, especially in Brooklyn. As a 'lapsed Jew' I find that the progressive ideas and cultural contributions by the amazing generation of truely forward thinking American Reform Jews between 1945-1980, is in fact DEAD, for over 40 years.

I have come to understand Judaism as a peoplehood which is definitely something I live with and by. The way we have over these thousands of years interpreted the mysterious words and commandments especially through the Talmudic commentary guides for every day life living in families and communities, and constantly reinterpreted by today's rabbis and congregations as weekly Torah study and discussion which I find instructive and thoughtful because we are taking a modern view at an old story and finding value in the study itself.

Except there would need to be an auto-mute timer on the microphones. No way DT will stick to a time limit. Visible to countdown clocks so everyone knows the limits. Also I suggest separate sound-proofed booths that can be darkened at the end of the time limit. Would make for an interesting “debate”.

The last name of Cohen is sometimes spelled Cohn; either way it traces back to Moses' brother Aaron who was the first priest, so we call them the priestly class. But this guy was a traitor to his own heritage. Being there was fun- great music - dancing and a memorable people meeting and watching experience and happy to have fallen into such luck.

I lived in New York during the heyday. I lived on the Upper East Side. Yes, I knew the scene, no I wasn't a regular - not my style. Agree with you I did not make 54 my first choice since there were some other really nice places to go to other than 54 because the VERY mixed sometimes wild crowd there could be a bit much at times. I think most of us knew the Donald was not on the better who who's list at that time i think he resented that and wanted to be President for revenge against NY City not really accepting him.

When these networks start both-sidesing and obscuring the real issues the sane readers drop their subscriptions. We push them into the arms of the maga consumers. This causes the networks to get even worse.

I think Kamala should keep the plan and show up for the scheduled ABC debates broadcast. He likely won’t show, but Kamala can take that time to continue broadcasting her platform.
I don’t think it is a good idea for Kamala to go to an arena where none of the people there are vetted, security would be an issue, placing her in harms way. Donnie still thinks he is the rightful president, has immunity and believes he can do as he pleases.
