Same here. I understand why he gave in. I think he still believed in himself, that he could beat Trump but the party needed to be united. I felt devastated when I saw that news. I loved Obama and I always respected his political intelligence but in this case I disagree with him. Biden has overcome so many challenges in his life- personal and political- that if anyone could beat the orange monster, it would have been him.
Today I re-registered as Independent. I sent an email to the AZ Democratic Party to tell them why. Yesterday I sent s message to President Biden to express my support and to thank him and wish him well. I also let him know that I will be leaving the undemocratic party.

I’m not too concerned about the VP’s support among women. I’m concerned about older, white men and, how can I put this tactfully, those who are not inclined to vote for a person of color. IMO, Biden should have dropped out of the race back in December when his overall favorability initially began to decline because of his unconditional support for war criminals aka: Israel (and IDF), which the ICJ ruled is a lawless apartheid state. I'm a former Republican who has cross voted the top of the ticket on more than one occasion. I did not vote for Hilary because, frankly, I didn't like her and saw her as feeling as if she had waited for 'her turn' and was entitled to the spot. I will 100% support and vote for Kamala Harris who did not benefit from a privileged upbringing. She's worked hard for everything she's achieved and will make a great President and even better advocate for women in this country.

There is always the "lame duck" problem to think of. As soon as it's known that a President can't/won't run again, the opposition party (especially if it's the GOP) become unwilling to make compromises. Consider how much Biden has managed to extract from this Congress simply because they couldn't count on him not being around for another term. If a leader does their job well, does it matter if they’re old, even physically feeble, don’t speak well, or have a speech impediment? If you read the transcript essentially looking at just the substance of the debate, Biden performed very well. Trump performed horribly. He didn’t answer the questions, and spewed mostly lies. I have no time to argue about the why of it-too much work to do. 107 days until Election Day, not to mention early voting. We can hold those responsible for pushing him out later.
I think since the debate, it was a foregone conclusion. And I do believe that his health has deteriorated considerably over just the past few months. To me, I say send our GREAT president out in a blaze of glory and win the 2024 election for him! In the end, this will serve to cement Biden's legacy, not diminish it, IMO.

I’m not too concerned about the VP’s support among women. I’m concerned about older, white men and, how can I put this tactfully, those who are not inclined to vote for a person of color. IMO, Biden should have dropped out of the race back in December when his overall favorability initially began to decline because of his unconditional support for war criminals aka: Israel (and IDF), which the ICJ ruled is a lawless apartheid state. I'm a former Republican who has cross voted the top of the ticket on more than one occasion. I did not vote for Hilary because, frankly, I didn't like her and saw her as feeling as if she had waited for 'her turn' and was entitled to the spot. I will 100% support and vote for Kamala Harris who did not benefit from a privileged upbringing. She's worked hard for everything she's achieved and will make a great President and even better advocate for women in this country.

There is always the "lame duck" problem to think of. As soon as it's known that a President can't/won't run again, the opposition party (especially if it's the GOP) become unwilling to make compromises. The problem is that she doesn't have the incumbency key that President Biden has. According to Lichtman, that is an important key needed for victory. She does have experience, no doubt, but she doesn't have the experience of President. If the incumbency key falls, the chances for victory are slim.

I think since the debate, it was a foregone conclusion. And I do believe that his health has deteriorated considerably over just the past few months. I worked as an engineer across the street from San Francisco's City Hall for 30 years (1990 - 2020). I've met VP Kamala Harris, Governor Gavin Newsom, and others from center/progressive politics.
In real life, VP Harris is gorgeous, brilliant, and has astounding charisma! For the record, she's not far left nor crazy. She will be an excellent POTUS.
