In my 85 yrs, I have never heard quite the almost gallows humor of today around voting as it was going before Mr. Biden quit. Things like; “I’d vote for a cardboard cutout of Biden before I vote for Trump”, and “ I’d vote for Biden if he was on a ventilator over Trump”. I interpreted this to mean they will vote for the administration, not the man. And, Trump, is only about the man, however loosely organized his brain and morals are…I have believed from the beginning once Roe fell women of the USA would unite and get rid of Trump. I was part of the fight to get abortion care in the l970s, know what it took and how determined we were. I think it no less today. Women will not tolerate Trump.

Cassie, I lost classmates during the days of the " hanger abortions", I was thrilled when Roe is Wade passed(80.8months young now).

I remember when the orange puke came across the Queensboro Bridge and was rejected by the " OLD $ crowd as crass"; I remember walking past the construction site for hitower & seeing the mostly Polish workers, sleeping within the site, in Sleeping Bags, on the concrete, because they were being paid $4-5 $ ph..

He has done a whole lot of damage to OUR Nation's sensibilities, morals & pride.

BUT, I believe the " Stepford WIVES " will still vote against themselves, because hubby said to do so.

Personally, my vote is for the Dem. Ticket, as it has been since 1964.

Thank you for your observation and Thank GOD for Mary L. TRUMP'S CLEAR THOUGHTS AND WORDS TO ALL OF US HERE.

I agree! I met Gloria Stineum(sp) at a book signing in Toledo, Ohio. She was amazing; but now I wonder her opinion of the roe vs Wade debacle & dweeb JD Vance. I burned my bra in 1971, & I do not want to go back!!! Hell NO! We’ve come to far, lived thru discrimination on the job & men who wanted to stick us at home as the, “little wife”. I was in the Air Force & had an account at a shop called, the orchid shop. I was always on time with my payments. I left the military with good credit. I wanted to open credit at a shop in Toledo, I was denied unless my dad co- signed!!!! Then in 1972, I wanted to open a checking acct of my own, but the bank denied my app unless my husband co- signed! We woman have really come too far to put an apron back on & bake! Mary, I was born in 1972, and have enjoyed the privileges of being able to have my own bank account and credit card (and basically living my life however I want) without even knowing how recently I couldn't have, if it weren't for women like you. It didn't even fully strike me until this year, how only 15 years separated your experience, with me opening my own account as a teenager in the 1980's. Thank you for paving the way. We can't think "something like that can never happen again," because it can. Look at what happened to women in Iran in 1979. That is where the current GQP is headed if they were to have full control. Excellent analogy, never have I felt so strongly about a candidate as so dangerous to our country and the world. Today a new analogy came to me: a new version of the classic fairy tale ‘Little Red Riding Hood.’ The red cloaked girl, a symbol of all those avid women in tfg’s party followers, oblivious to the very real danger they’re in. Only today the danger that lurks, is not a wolf in Grandma’s cape + hat.

Now it’s tfg is like a metaphorical, menacing alligator, in the guise of “man,” blondish, orange tan, huckster, saying what they want to hear, like those lurking in lagoons at places like The Villages FL. Far too many are certain “It cannot happen here,” our guy says, he,knows, can fix it, they’ve believed the hype, fantasies on tv. Votes for that

“alligator on a man, in a suit with a red ball cap” will be the bit lethal bite, that takes down their generation and nation. If they don’t get Woke is Exactly what they need to be!

Old Man Trump

Woody Guthrie 1954

I suppose that Old Man Trump knows just how much racial hate

He stirred up in that bloodpot of human hearts

When he drawed that color line

Here at his Beach Haven family project

Beach Haven ain't my home!

No, I just can't pay this rent!

My money's down the drain,

And my soul is badly bent!

Beach Haven is Trump’s Tower

Where no black folks come to roam,

No, no, Old Man Trump!

Old Beach Haven ain't my home!

I'm calling out my welcome to you and your man both

Welcoming you here to Beach Haven

To love in any way you please and to have some kind of a decent place

To have your kids raised up in.

Beach Haven ain't my home!

No, I just can't pay this rent!

My money's down the drain,

And my soul is badly bent!

Where no black folks come to roam,

No, no, Old Man Trump!

Sheila, I have been wearing my Stand Up for Choice T-shirt bought in Washington DC 20 years ago on April 25,2004. (As a younger man, I was to DC twice for Iraq War demos........going to DC again for womens rights was a given) The energy and speeches are still alive in me to this day. The power of women coming togethe is a tidal wave that cannot be stopped. From the depths of my soul I can honestly say that VP Kamala Harris is a gift from the universe to each and every women.

And a gift to the men who have women that they truly love, whether as family, friends, or lovers. Also, often an abortion happens that both partners wanted. My only conception was aborted by strong mutual agreement, and decades later, I'm still grateful for that.

I agree. I protested for Roe back in the day and it blows my mind why the race is so close. Where are the women protesting in the streets every week. This generation is lazy until it happens to them and they can't get an abortion.

I’m 70ish and remember the inception of Roe and being able to get a credit card w/out a male signature. I’m not sure if it’s laziness or ignorance on the part of the younger ones. I’m in a swing state that amended our constitution in 2022 to protect choice. At the time, I had some pretty pointed convos with younger friends that kind of took the right to choose for granted (until Roe was tossed) and reminded them just how recent no choice was. There was a combo of wonder and horror in their voice when they said “Deb, that’s NOT that long ago”… my response? NO SH*T!! Talk to every friend you have about this. Women judges and some that are conservative have put him in his place already and there are many of those left in cases against him that will have their say. Perhaps between all of these beautifully, strong, intelligent women we will be done with him in our political life, and maybe some of those who were forced to participate in his pageants, his dealings with Jeffrey Epstein, and I’m sure many more will finally have some peace and should they choose get their voice heard. Or maybe they’ll even feel emboldened enough to say they don’t care about the evidence proving that Kamala won by a landslide, or any of the legal arguments; they have decided trump should be Prez, therefore he will be.

I know this sounds like a tinfoil hat kind of thing, but we must prepare for it. Don-OLD will stop at nothing.

How can we stop this from happening, and once it does, how will we survive, and how will we fight back?

He might take his own life- would he? IDK

What I know that feels true for me is that as double minority human who happens to have immense intelligence (sans children), Kamala Harris, is THE most wonderful thing that has ever happened in our government’s history.

Have you seen the tshirts that say “Who would you rather vote for? A Criminal or a Prosecutor?”

I’m delighted by how Kamala presented herself in the most intelligent and upbeat way . She has portrayed herself as a highly dignified woman who is going to drive DT 🤪er than he’s already spoken and behaved.

He and many men in his party and many men in our nation have not a clue about how to deal with a woman in the majority of circumstances. These men have to be so f’n befuddled and what they’ll say and their behaviors will be more atrocious and mean spirited because, and believe, they’re freakin’

living dicks. Can you picture all these various length dicks trying to worm their way about, falling on their HEADS & SCRAPING THEIR DANGLING BALLS across the ground. LITERALLY ‼️

Whaaaaaaaht⁉️ Their entire promotion and behavior will be based on running against a woman- no less than a BLACK woman. Their soft dick heads are wilting & along the way, in these next 99 days, they will have castrated themselves in the shuffle.

Booo hoooooo💥💥

Donald will probably tangle his own tounge and choke himself because he’s an incapable human being who is self entitled a self entitled narcissist who keeps digging himself farther and further into the deep, dark and putrid shit of a man who dwells on bashing his competitors, yelling and initiating personal history issues, false criticism and berating those who somehow continue (as people of our home of the brave) to gracefully and lawfully resist the shit that continues to dwell on f’d up behavior and narrative ‘cause they don’t give two 💩💩’s about what our people basic needs are to survive in this now very fucked up jungle of a country we live in these days.

Those who were born and who learned self-entitlement behaviors from their immediate family and caregivers are so brainwashed they can’t see outside of themselves or even to begin to understand the world around them. Living in glass castles is their only known existence. I would absolutely love to at least crack the glass castle people and rather shatter the glass completely.

The ultimate fears that glass castle people would experience would leave them in total fear of their lives and hopefully allow them the chance of seeking better ways of living- more fulfilling ways of existing in our world. One can only hope and mentor this possibility. I keep following the path of possibilities in desperate hope that we can see our differences and be accepting and open to see our similarities.

I agree, and another thing bothering me is that Trump's pick, Dejoy, is still USPS postmaster. Why hasn't he been replaced? Have people forgotten the mail sorters that went missing prior to the 2016 election? There ate plenty if reasons for replacing him. Apperently there is one member of the board, whi is supposedly a Dem that won't vote him out. Replace this board member and get it done! Then replace the Dejoy picks with union members! Please help!

Expand full comment

What can we do to get deJoy replaced in time? Could Biden do it unilaterally using his new powers of immunity??!🧐

Expand full comment

He won't do that. It has to be the Board of Governors. Although, he has had a majority on that Board for a while now and just added another Governor. He's been dragging his feet because of DeJoy's "commitment" to building and electric fleet. Although I recall, he took some steps to blow up an agreement with a provider very early in his tenure and that has already set the electrified fleet back. He could get it done tomorrow morning without and powers of immunity. I wish he would move forward. What is he waiting for?

Expand full comment

I think Biden has done a remarkable job governing. But where he really failed was not dealing with Trump and all he left behind. Trump wasn't prosecuted for anything he did until the last minute, hence his lack of paying for his crimes now. They dealt with everyone around him re Jan. 6 but not him. Big mistake. He'll do it again.

Expand full comment

I actually think holding off TFG's prosecution was deliberate and strategic. Since the public's attention span is so short (the Jan. 6 commission is already forgotten), I think the plan was to have his crimes in the public eye right before the election. Expand full comment

Lenin put it well in 1917: "Sometimes decades happen in weeks."

What we are experiencing since last Sunday morning has never happened before in American political history. If the word "revolutionary" is defined as "Being or bringing about a big or important change," we are in a revolutionary situation.

What is happening now has never happened before in American political history. I worked in the Obama campaign beginning in 2007, and what I experienced then - which felt like nothing before - is not close to what is going on now.

AOC warned the week before Biden withdrew that those pushing him out also wanted to push out VP Harris. That didn't happen, because the Democratic base - Us! - rose up and said No!

We made sure it would be Kamala, and in the past week, the elites are responding to us. Each of them could say what French politician Alexandre Auguste Ledru-Rollin once said: "There go the people. I must follow them, for I am their leader."

I really believe this is "the American Spring." Unlike The Arab Spring, or the "democratic revolutions" at the outset of the French and Russian Revolutions - which were overthrown by the "revolutionaries" who couldn't deliver anything but a new tyranny - we have a good chance of success because there is a 100 day time limit. That’s not enough time for the "professionals" to screw up and abort things.

This is a bottom-up movement.

We have Gen Z creators making memes that are playing to young people and activating them.

On Sunday night, 45,000 black women came together and created a movement. The next night, 45,000 black men followed their example, followed each night after by Asian Americans, LGBTQ American, Latino Americans, White American Women.

Next Monday White Dudes for Kamala is meeting, and on Tuesday Women for Harris will come into existence.

Those zoom meetings are our version of the "peoples' assemblies" that brought forth the democratic revolutions in 1789 and 1917 and 2011.

Over 100,000 people have signed up as volunteers to work in the election. Most of them have never done such a thing before.

My politics have remained what they began as 60 years ago: I am a "participatory democracy radical." I think we are in the midst of what I've been hoping for all of those 60 years.

What we have to do to make this happen is PARTICIPATE.
