No words for how much I love this newsletter 💙 love the comments as well. Feel more connected to like minded human beings. After spending the last few years consumed with anger & disappointment, I no longer feel I’m screaming into the void alone. Thank You Mary for this wonderful & much needed platform 💙

As white American living in a non-white society, I have often thought that white people who think like Rogan should be sent to live and work in a society that is not white. They will experience eyes on them every minute of the day and quickly learn (not as tourists) that they have to accept other standards of behavior to gain the respect of their neighbors. They will experience how easily white skin stands out besides the other shades of people nearby, and come to understand the meaning of discrimination that is not in their favor.

All excellent choices and now add Joni Mitchell for backing up Neil Young! May others do the same.

I hope my book gets banned when it comes out. Where do I send a copy pre publication to get it banned, please? ( Actually that was tongue in cheek but it's pretty likely both books I have in the works are likely to be banned by right wing white male supremacists now that I think of it 😉).

Have been a fan of Young and Crosby Stills Nash and Young solo since the late 70s and I am so bloody chuffed at his decent ethics, as well as those who joined him. Notably, they are the older musos...Still, better some than none at all. Heard somewhat of this Rogan character this a.m. (Aust. time) on Twitter - what a utter pig he is. Here he'd last about five nano-seconds then be out of a job so fast he wouldn't have known what hit him. That he's allowed to yell racist remarks, make fun of coloured people and spread utter rubbish about Covid is beyond belief.

We can’t fight fire with fire.

It can only be fought with water.

Neil Young is asserting himself in a calm, rational manner.

It’s how to win!!!

I never listened much to Neil Young, but I’m going to start now.

Who’d have thought this would have been a great marketing move for recording artists!!!

The handwriting is on the wall. Trump has made it perfectly clear that we have a binary choice ahead of us beginning this November. A vote for a Republican, any Republican, is a vote against our democracy and our freedom. It is very clear and very simple. Vote an exclusive Democrat slate to save our democracy. Doesn't matter who the candidate is! If he/she has a "D" next to their name, it is a vote to save America!🙂

Just imagine what all the people who have a platform, and who claim to be progressive-minded, could do if they let go of their fear. We can hope. We can dream.

Is anyone truly thinking about a plan B? We've lost SCOTUS, voter suppression is rampant, we're careening towards the midterm without an organized pro-democracy movement. What if Smerconish is right in his assessment that undermining the NYT vs Sullivan in on the radar to be undermined by SCOTUS? So many people seem to be either in denial or overly complacent. This will not end well if we don't keep the House and Senate. The 1/6 Committee isn't going to save democracy. A Trump indictment (as unlikely as that is) will not save democracy. Without a massive push for pro-democracy candidates to run at every level in every city and state, we're all headed for generations of suffering. I'm grateful to Neil Young, but it's clear which side of democracy the corporate world has chosen. We're almost out of time.

Thanks for this. That's quite a statement by Yuzima Philip! Glad to see people call things out for what they are - need more of that candor right now. I also missed out on Maus, but will order a copy as soon as I can. My "must read" book list keeps growing, hard to keep up! Hope the snow isn't/doesn't get too bad up there. Hope you and everyone else have a nice evening.

Thanks for choosing Neil Young for his courageous action, followed up by Joni Mitchell. These two Canadian's spent much of their early careers in the USA, when Content mattered more than form.
