WINNER
Marc Elias, who was general counsel to John Kerry's presidential campaign and lead counsel for Senator Al Franken during the 2008 recount, also served as general counsel for Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign. Elias now serves on the board of advisors of Let America Vote which aims to end voter suppression.
After the 2020 election, Elias supervised the response to dozens of lawsuits filed by Donald’s campaign in its efforts to overturn the results. Elias’ team won 64 out of 65 of the court cases the Trump campaign filed. Since the election, Elias has filed suits challenging new laws being passed by Republican-dominated state legislatures. Reid Wilson of The Hill has described Elias as "the most prominent Democratic attorney in America" and "the Democrats' last best hope of preserving a House majority."
In voting for Elias you said that his recent win is “yet another victory for democracy, this time in North Carolina. A mighty fighter for good, this man.”
“He and his team continue to fight to protect voting rights and our democracy, and win.”
Let’s hope he and other advocates for voting rights continue to prevail.
RUNNER-UP
According to NBC News, Alex Vindman “filed a lawsuit Wednesday against Donald Trump Jr., Rudy Giuliani and two allies, alleging that they conspired to intimidate him so he would not testify at Donald's impeachment proceedings and that they retaliated against him after he did.”
You voted for Vindman in support of his “filing a lawsuit against Jr, Rudy & White House staffers for their appalling mistreatment of a patriotic and heroic American,” and suggested that “the lawsuit should Include the former, disgraced president for firing this great man out of sheer spite and retribution which should be illegal and disallowed behavior on the part of a president.”
With all of which I concur. Go, Alex!
HONORABLE MENTION
A woman took Virginia governor Glenn Youngkin to task for failing to wear a mask during his visit to a grocery store in Alexandria, a heavily democratic city.
"Yeah, look around you governor,” she said. “You're in Alexandria. Read the room buddy!"
You called her a “brave lady in Alexandria, Virginia for calling out her Gov Youngkin for not wearing a face mask!”
“Yes! She spoke out when no one else did. Moxie speaks truth to power!”
“That was epic! Brava.”
Youngkin, a racist and Donald acolyte (but I repeat myself), never should have been elected and his first few weeks as governor have shown just what an extremist he is. I hope his brazenly autocratic maneuverings help the people of Virginia understood just what an awful person they voted for.
Marc Elias is definitely a winner. I hope he knows he has an enormous amount of people supporting him.
Thank you Mary for speaking the truth & shedding light, on this honorable man's committed service to our nation.
