Hi friends,
When I started this newsletter three years ago, I couldn’t have imagined what it would end up meaning to me. The chance to connect with this growing community as we stand together to fight for our democracy has been a constant source of hope and purpose.
I’m writing today because I want to be transparent about the challenge of finding a balance between providing a free and open space for the general public and ensuring the long-term success of this project.
You may have noticed that the majority of the last post I published was limited to paid supporting subscribers. I am so grateful to those of you who have chosen to support this content financially. By responding to posts like that one, you help me keep the vast majority of my pieces free for everyone. And that is one of the main reasons I’m doing this: to maximize how many people see this content before the election.
Now that fighting for democracy is my full-time job, it’s important to me to do everything I can to support my team, improve the platform, and potentially expand into new areas that will benefit the community. At the same time, we’re getting critical information to the public, including stories the corporate media is either unwilling or too inept to cover, but that could have a strong impact on the election.
Here’s the most exciting thing: Our efforts are paying off. This newsletter is breaking through to the media and helping to shape the narrative:
The more support I have, the more I’m able to provide fact-based posts and spread the truth about where we are as a country and what we need to do to prevail both in November and also in the long-term. I want you to know that I am extremely grateful to every single one of my subscribers. Thank you for everything you do.
For those who can afford it, will you join me in my efforts by upgrading now? That will help make this newsletter free for those on a low or fixed income.
To those who do become supporting subscribers, thank you. I truly appreciate it.
Sincerely,
– Mary
