Behind The Scenes

When Donald announced his candidacy in June of 2015, my life changed forever. He hasn’t changed since I was a kid, and I knew handing him power would be devastating for our country. Driven by this conviction, I spoke out.

I've given hundreds of interviews, reached out through Twitter, published two books, started a podcast, and now done my best to create this wonderful community on Substack (which I’m making my priority in 2024).

It's hard to re-examine my painful family history, and confront the most psychologically damaged member of my family, as often as I do. Doing so, however, is worth it, if it brings people insight, hope, and the motivation—and determination—to fight for our democracy.

It cost me most of my family.

But I continue speaking out, not because I want to, but because I couldn't live with myself if I didn't.

How I’m Doing

It hasn’t been easy. Honestly, I get exhausted sometimes.

Looking back, would I do it all again? Absolutely… and I’m still going!

I’m dedicated to doing everything I can to keep this fascist from ascending to power again. Just this past weekend, Donald was out there parroting dictator’s talking points:

Literal Hitler

Speaking to a crowd in Durham, New Hampshire, on Saturday — Donald said immigrants are “poisoning the blood of our country.” Hitler used similar language in Mein Kampf when describing the Jews.

Donald praised Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong Un, too.

Worse, the corporate media continues normalizing Donald and the Republican party at almost every turn. I will do everything in my power to counter their dereliction of duty.

The Hope We Need

One voting block turned out in 2020 to make a crucial difference: rational Americans who recognized the existential threat Donald posed to our country. Even so, it was a narrow margin!

Now we need to reach those voters again—as well as those awakened by the Supreme Court’s horrific decision to overturn Roe v. Wade.
