Penalties… Navalny… IVF… let’s break down what’s been going on with Donald this past week, and discuss how we can survive this man. Read on. 👇
Donald’s Nightmare… with interest
The $464 million fraud judgment against Donald and others at The Trump Organization was officially entered last week and the clock is ticking, with interest.
Donald needs to pay the judgment, which is increasing at approximately $114,000 a day.
This morning, Donald appealed this decision to an intermediate-level state appellate court.
Hopefully I will be speaking with Jen Taub, Nerd Avenger and white-collar crime expert, tomorrow to get you up-to-date analysis on exactly how this will play out.
For now, it appears Donald has two options:
Donald can pay the entire amount of the judgment to New York State himself; the money will then be placed in escrow.
Donald can get a bond.
Getting a bond won’t necessarily be easy, as the company providing the bond will be on the hook for the amount of the judgment, if Donald loses his appeal and fails to pay.
It is likely, therefore, that he will have to pledge some form of collateral. Also, it will cost him both upfront — NY courts require as much as 120% of the judgment if it’s paid with a bond — and on the backend, as bond companies charge between one and three percent interest.
Why Donald is stressing either way:
He almost certainly doesn’t have enough cash on hand to cover the judgment plus interest. And if he is unable to find a legitimate entity to loan him the money or post a bond, what then? Who else is there to loan it to him? And what might that mean in terms of his allegiances — especially if he gets back into the White House?
We already know, even if we don’t know precisely why, the extent to which he remains more loyal to Vladimir Putin than he does to America. Saudi Arabia, especially given Jared Kushner’s connections to MBS, is a close second. We know that China funneled over $5.5 million through three of his properties during his administration.
What if a Chinese national foots the bill? How does that bode for the already horrifying foreign policy implications of a second Trump administration?
So, where the money comes from is even more important than whether or not he can raise it — it’s a matter of our national security.
There is one other possibility: Donald’s social media company is close to a merger with Digital World Acquisition Corp. (a publicly traded shell company) which could be worth as much as $4 billion dollars to him, as he would receive the vast majority of shares, as many as 79 million of them.
It’s enough to make one’s head explode that this criminal keeps getting bailed out and failing up.
Still, it’s better than Putin or Saudi Arabia owning an even bigger piece of him than they already do.
Delusion wrapped in treason parading as grievance
It took a few days, but Donald finally addressed the murder of Alexei Navlany at the hands of the Putin regime, but it would have been better if he’d said nothing:
"Navalny is a very sad situation, and he is a very brave, he was a very brave guy because he went back. He could have stayed away. And, frankly, he probably would have been a lot better off staying away and talking from outside of the country as opposed to having to go back in, because people thought that could happen and it did happen. And it's a horrible thing."
Because he has the unerring ability to make things worse, he ended with this:
"But it's happening in our country too. We are turning into a communist country in many ways. And if you look at it — I'm the leading candidate. I get indicted."
It's hard to overstate the obscenity of this statement.
Too many in the media act as if everything about Donald is already baked in — his criminality, his incompetence, his embrace of the enemies of America, his cruelty, etc. — and is therefore no longer worthy of comment or explanation.
It’s time they start stepping up.
First of all, Alexei Navalny was fighting for democracy, for his people, and for his country, in opposition to a brutal dictator who had him imprisoned and finally murdered.
Donald Trump is an authoritarian wannabe who incited an insurrection against his own country, who is using the weaknesses inherent in our democratic system to get back into power so he, along with his enablers, can end democracy.
Donald has openly committed many crimes against our country — from voter fraud, to election interference, to stealing top secret, highly sensitive classified documents, to inciting an insurrection — but not only has he not yet been held accountable, he is running to be president of the country he seeks to destroy.
And he’s doing so 1) to stay out of prison; 2) to get out from under any judgments against him; and 3) because he is beholden to at least one hostile foreign power — Russia.
The logical outcome of overturning Dobbs
On June 24th, in its infamous Dobbs decision, the super-majority of the Supreme Court concluded that abortion is not a right protected by the U.S. Constitution. The Alabama Supreme Court ruling, that embryos and fetuses should be considered children and be afforded legal protections, is the logical extension of Dobbs.
A phalanx of Republican members of Congress, who came out in favor of “fetal personhood” when they backed the “Life at Conception Act of 2021” cheered Dobbs, but are now trying to backtrack in the wake of the Alabama ruling. They loudly declare their support for IVF because, as Rep. Byron Donalds, (R-FL) said, IVF helps “breed great families.”
Also, they know that the Alabama decision will be wildly unpopular among their voters.
Sorry. You do not get to come out in favor of IVF when you’re on record supporting legislation in favor of “fetal personhood” (which is not a thing that exists in the real world).
As disgusting as the Alabama Supreme Court decision is, it should surprise no one. It is the next step after overturning Roe v. Wade ended a women’s constitutional right to control over her own body, her right to make medical decisions in consultation with her doctor, and her right to be a full citizen of the United States.
Donald Trump is responsible for the reactionary, anti-democratic super-majority on the Supreme Court that is systematically setting this country back decades, despite being at odds with over 70% of Americans on most social issues.
He is proud of this. But you cannot get credit for having more-or-less sane views about IVF after you created that reactionary, anti-woman majority and after you said this:
“After 50 years of failure, with nobody coming even close, I was able to kill Roe v. Wade; embryos and fetuses should be considered children and be afforded legal protections. Without me there would be no 6 weeks, 10 weeks, 15 weeks, or whatever is finally agreed to. Without me the pro-Life movement would have just kept losing.”
DNC Chair Jaime Harrison released this statement:
“Donald Trump is on a mission to make sure everyone remembers he is responsible for the most extreme abortion bans in the country. Trump’s record speaks for itself: He is an anti-choice extremist who is hell-bent on ripping away a woman’s right to make her own health care decisions.”
Three final footnotes in madness
1. Ciao Romney
Ronna ROMNEY McDaniel has officially resigned from the RNC paving the way for the ascent of Donald’s inept, unqualified, and inexperienced daughter-in-law. Let’s see if she, and the two other Donald-sycophants who’ve been mentioned for other leadership roles, end up getting appointed. If they do, we will be one step closer to being a banana republic.
2. CPAC Whining
In his CPAC rant, Donald referred to himself as a “political dissident” — an insult to real political dissidents everywhere, a clue to how much more extreme his rhetoric will become in the next eight months, and softening the ground for his threats against anybody who opposes him. Following Donald’s lead, Republicans will soon look upon election day as Liberation Day for them and Judgment Day for the rest of us.
3. Christian Nationalism
There will be much more to say in the coming days about this threat. The apocalyptic rhetoric is as much a result of Donald’s huge court losses as a sop to the people on the right who empower him and who want nothing more than to turn the United States into a theocratic apartheid state.
The weeks ahead
Keeping up with Donald and getting an insider’s look on it is exhausting, but we need to repeat what worked to get Joe Biden in the White House in 2020 and go even bigger this year. 2024 is even more urgent.
I am determined to use this platform to inform and empower our base in 2024, to stop Donald from destroying our democracy.

Right now, we find ourselves at a defining moment, at the crossroads between the democratic ideals we've long cherished and the shadow of Trump’s authoritarianism creeping closer. The scenes we've witnessed at events like CPAC – they're more than just political theater. They remind us of the early chapters of history, like those leading up to Hitler's rise, where the power of words and the sway of public opinion were harnessed not to unite, but to divide and conquer.
It's a moment that demands our attention, showing us the dangers of complacency in the face of tyranny's subtle advance. The allure of power, the compromises on principles for personal advantage – these aren't new stories, but their outcomes are as old as time, leading us down a path where corruption and oppression could become the norm.
So, the question we face is not just about the here and now; it's about what kind of future we envision and whether we're at a point of no return. It's a conversation we need to have, grounded in our shared history and the lessons it teaches us about the cost of inaction.
@Mary Trump-your thoughts? If Biden wins the 2024 election, what can the administration do to prevent the success of the new GOP plan to obstruct the results? They’re nailing down a J6 2.0 plan to take over the government and have learned from their mistakes. It appears there is no legal recourse to their plan, so it has a greater chance of success than in 2021. This has been written about and described extensively by Newsweek’s Tom Rogers, Mark Medish & Joel McCleary for the Washington Spectator, Joy Reid and Thom Hartmann. It’s public knowledge although, as usual, the media is generally ignoring it. We essentially chose to ignore the warnings about J6, as well. This time, the seditionists hold power in the House and can accomplish the takeover from inside the chamber. This is the most frightening development on the election front yet.
