My apologies for not posting yesterday. In an accidentally unfortunate bit of scheduling, I started recording the audiobook for my upcoming memoir, Who Could Ever Love You, which will be published on September 10th. I actually love narrating it, but this probably isn’t the best week to sidelined 🙂

Donald admitted something this weekend that we all already knew — he hates being laughed at. 

Here’s my origin story on exactly why that’s the case.

Donald also hates women (especially strong women) and minorities, so you can see why current Vice President and presidential candidate Kamala Harris terrifies him to the point of incoherence. He says she’s “crazy.” His childish nickname for her is “laughing Kamala” because she feels joy, and joy is something he has never experienced and doesn’t understand.

Faced with the reality that he is now running against a vibrant, intelligent, experienced woman who is fully two decades younger than he is, Donald spent Sunday and Monday flailing, trying to find an angle of attack that would stick.

Unable to do so, he kept going after Joe Biden. His advisors and co-conspirators at Fox, on the other hand, criticized Harris’ personal life, her laugh, her ability to raise money. Sean Hannity, who seems to have lost the will to live, went after her for attempting to limit the use of plastic straws.

Laura Loomer, a self-professed and virulent Islamophobe, marked the recent death of the great Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee by calling her a “ghetto bitch.” This vile woman would have been considered too extreme for mainstream Republicans before 2016, but last week she attended the convention and sat in the front row. Donald “blew her a kiss from the stage,” and made time to speak with her.

Loomer is already calling for Republicans to “start talking about Kamala Harris’s sexual history and the reason why she likely doesn’t have any children of her own. I’m willing to bet she’s had so many abortions that she damaged her uterus.”

Donald and his sycophants, enablers, and backers are scared. And they should be. News just broke that Elon Musk has changed his mind about pledging $45 million a month to Donald’s campaign because, he says, he doesn’t “subscribe to cult of personality.” Considering he made the pledge only a week ago, it’s much more likely he just doesn’t feel like setting that much money on fire in service to a losing candidate.

Vice President Harris is a trailblazer, an American success story, and the first Black person, first Asian person, and first woman to be Vice President of the United States. She’s also a former prosecutor, and that, more than anything else, is likely what freaks Donald out.

In a press conference this morning, Harris said:

“As many of you know before I was elected as Vice President, before I was elected as U.S. Senator, I was the elected AG of CA. Before that, I was a courtroom prosecutor. In those roles I took on perpetrators of all kinds. Predators who abused women. Fraudsters who ripped off consumers. Cheaters who broke the rules for their own gain. So, hear me when I say, I know Donald Trump’s type. . . .

“As a young prosecutor . . . I specialized in cases involving sexual abuse. Donald Trump was found liable by a jury of sexual abuse. As Attorney General of California, I took on one of our country’s for-profit colleges and put it out of business. Donald Trump ran a for profit college, Trump University, that was forced to pay $25 million to the students it scammed. As District Attorney to go after polluters I created one of the first environmental justice units in our nation. Donald Trump stood in Mae-a-Lago and told big oil lobbyists he would do their bidding for a 1$ billion campaign contribution. During the foreclosure crisis, I took on the big Wall Street banks and won $20 billion for California families, holding those banks accountable for fraud. Donald Trump was just found guilty of 34 counts of fraud.”

Mic drop, indeed.

I am so proud to support our Vice President. In her first campaign event today in Milwaukee (a city Donald said he hates) she continued to make clear to the American people how unfit Donald really is. Perhaps more importantly, she presented her case for how a Harris presidency will improve our lives: healthcare, childcare, stronger unions, a stronger middle class—a government, in short, that works for all people, not just for Donald and his rich cronies.

It’s obvious that Donald still wants to run against Biden. The whole Republican campaign against him has been years in the making—from the attacks on Biden’s age and fitness, to the attacks the Republican-controlled House of Representatives have launched on his family. Now, they have to start over and come up with a new strategy that somehow makes Donald, the oldest presidential candidate in American history, seem a reasonable alternative to Harris.

They’re so desperate and so afraid that they’re floating the idea of suing to force Biden to stay on the ballot.

We, on the other hand, are more energized than we have ever been, and I believe that we are going to make history this year when we elect our first woman president and saving democracy. Because of the right’s desperation and total lack of decency, we’re going to have to go through hell to get there—slogging through the muck of their racism and misogyny—but we will get there, and I believe the country will change for the better in the process.
