Next we will find out that the assignment of the documents case to Aileen Cannon wasn’t actually “random”. Leonard Leo and Harlan Crow, et al. have plenty of money to payoff whomever assigned this case to her. They are leaving nothing to chance.
Indeed, they most likely do.. as does Trump and his henchmen.... and yes, most assuredly both (and others) are digging here... it's eventually going to "get ugly".💯
Jennifer, the problem is that Republicans and their "friends" do not seem to be held accountable for any of the appalling things they do. And, when any of their number is properly convicted, they claim the justice system is rigged. They are right, but it is rigged in their favor and has been for a couple of decades. They nominate folks who should not be sitting on any court for the SC, then bribe those SC cons to keep them totally on board, knowing they will have to sacrifice a couple of cases to try to maintain the "appearance of impartiality." The 6 have no impartiality, even Roberts with his funky comments to the undercover reporter. He said all the right words and believed none of them. Yep, that's what republicans do, and that's how one can tell Roberts is one.
Exactly 💯🤷♂️🙄. The "special treatment problem" here absolutely needs addressing in updated judicial conduct rules. Cannon is an exemplar of judicial misconduct and she needs to be exposed and suffer the consequences.
From what I heard Lisa Rubin say, the judges that recommended she give up this case are her peers, not superiors, but of course they have much more experience and she should have listened to them.
One of them who recommended she recuse is the Chief Judge of the Southern District. She was also advised by two other moe experienced judges to recuse, and ignored them.
Well, if the Chief Judge doesn’t have any more authority over their District than John Roberts has over SCOTUS, then I wouldn’t call them her boss. I just went by what Lisa Rubin on MSNBC said since she is an attorney and I am not.
I'm sorry Linda. I didn't mean that as a criticism. My apologies if it came across that way. I read that in a couple of stories about it in the WaPo, and heard it from Michael Popock on LegalAF.
No offense taken. This reporting is new and there may be some details that aren’t matching up everywhere yet. I only heard of two judges approaching her, not three, but that could be wrong.
Eventually she is going to screw up enough that the prosecution will be able to go to the Court of Appeals. They have to be very careful with this and make absolutely sure that it will go through. She is sitting on so many motions and that is where the problem lies. If she doesn’t rule, they can’t appeal.
Her performance so far, while I utterly disagree with tit, shows definite signs of strategic thinking. My guess is that she is being coached by the top strategists at the Federalist Society. A frightening thought indeed.
I hope you’re correct about Donald stepping down. He’s really losing it and President Biden may be older but he’s on the ball and very active physically. Go Joe!💙💙🇺🇸🇺🇸 Thanks Mary!
If only! But it's not in the nature of a flagrantly malignant narcissistic personality disordered individual to admit defeat and step down. It's literally not in his psychological repertoire. Doubling down would be more in line with the pathology, as we all witnessed on Jan. 6, and the cognitive and moral decay has only become exponentially worse since.
If he shows up for a debate. I think it's likely that he will pin some lie on Biden to make it sound like Joe is ditching. I think there has already been a kerfuffle about GOP making up a story about Joe wanting special attention to be able to be seated. I don't know how legit this is, but I can easily see that kind of thing being The Felon's way out. He knows he can't hold a candle to Joe in a situation where he must answer sharply in designated time frames with the mic being cut when time it up. If he can't bloviate about sharks and batteries, he's got nuttin'. I'm imagining that he might show but complain the first few times that his mic was cut off too soon, favoring Joe, with him complaining that life's not fair! And then walking off. I also think that part of the deal should be that they are in different physical locations. I would not put it over The Felon to walk over to Joe's space and try to intimidate him, as he did to Hilary. JFK and Nixon had a "two-locations...aired on split screen" debate. Why can't these two?
I agree with you completely. I also think that since tr*mp is accusing Joe of being on drugs and Hannity the Horrible keeps saying it every night (« Jacked-up Joe »🙄), they should call tr*mp’s bluff and make them BOTH take a drug test !! Run that test just before the debate, get the results to the moderator (Is it Tapper?) before the end of the debate and have them read right there on the air!
Marie, he doesn't have substance because he is just playing a role. That's all he's ever done. Apparently for him, life has become a reality show for TV.
I, too, would love to see tr*mp step down, however that raises the concern of who would replace it as the candidate and would/could they win? I mean it would have to be a MAGAt, right? So we would still be under threat of Project 2025 and the many other reprehensible ideas of the MAGAt regime. I think maybe the risk would be higher with a new « improved » candidate because the regunlikkklans who have enough morality to distance themselves from tr*mp and say they will not vote for him would likely vote for a replacement candidate.
What’s to me is the most disturbing is Republicans catering to him and not the people who elected them. The lack of vertebral courage is breathtaking. 10 years from now it will be the most embarrassing time in American history. I’m so over it. I wish the election was tomorrow.
Wes, it truly is ridiculous that so many otherwise, possibly intelligent people have decided a cruel, hateful vengeful man in the throes of dementia is worthy of their not only support, but their total loyalty, to the point they will lie, cheat, make up stuff, and whine about how Trump is being so badly abused by Democrats. That is like selling one's soul. I never thought there would ever be so many souls on the market at one time!
M, I believe you have marked the reality, they are in a fanclub of the cruel, etc., folks who want raw power, as much of it as they can get so they can in their toddlerhood, get everything they want without having to do their regular lying tantrums. They think that will make things better, but when there is a whole basket of rotten apples, nothing good and nutritious can come of it.
Barbara, I have no idea where people got the idea of a stutter meaning less than strong intelligence. I am guessing it is from childhood and the patience it takes for a person with a stutter to learn how to manage it, the impatience of adults who don't want to wait until someone gets out their entire sentence, and other kids who use stuttering as an excuse for bullying. Biden knows what is going on and what he is doing. Age may slow a person's movements sometimes, but in Biden's case, it has not kept him from understanding his job and working for the American people. On the other hand, Trump, I believe is in the throes of dementia, but that does not seem to bother his cult. I know they would be upset if it were their own family member, possibly angry, but somehow, not with Trump. He was a terrible president, especially for his cult, but they have been "encouraged" to remember those days differently, inaccurately, so they will vote for him, an inadequate leader, again. Ugh!
The Republican party is owned lock, stock, and barrel by the likes of the Kochs. Crows, Sinclairs, and Musks. They all have a vested interest in making sure Democrats don't raise their taxes. Nor regulate their businesses.
They are to a person, avaricious, mean, and cutthroat. They will do everything in their power to control the levers of power.
What they aren't though, is street smart. They don't or won't allow themselves to think that they can't control the Trump machine or cult. And make no mistake. It doesn't matter who the Heritage Foundation or Federalist Society recommend for what position within the administration, he will pick whoever he feels is most loyal to HIM, and of course, looks good on camera.
And, when it comes to Project 2025, he might implement some of it, but only those things that will directly benefit him in real time.
And if he does declare himself dictator, make damn sure that he will only do it if the Congress (both houses) are also majority Republican.
His only real impediment will be the majority of the armed forces who are dedicated to actually defending the Constitution. But, I'm sure his "brain trust" will try to figure out how to change that.
Just like many at his rallies, the mainstream media considers him great entertainment, and good for clicks, reads, and shares, and that always equates to ad $$$.
As for Cannon, at some point she's going to have to make a ruling on the issues she herself has raised. And if she doesn't then it's going to be up to her boss at the Southern District to decide whether or not a forcible recusal is called for.
DonP, to avaricious, mean, and cutthroat you might add evil. They have lost touch with the American people if they ever had touch. The super-rich owners and operators of rich corporations or who wannabee those heads are like toddlers who want what they want and will tantrum if they don't get it. They are used to being spoilt brats, hurting anyone who gets in their way, supporting those they believe will do whatever they say (like the children of bad parents), and will tell us they are "too big to fail." Only some of our failure to keep more manufacturing here is due to outsourcing. Some of it was lack of innovation that occurred when they sacrificed research and development for more stock buybacks. As we said, these are not good people, not one working positive moral compass among the lot.
TFG is entertaining???? Spare me. I find myself wondering about what will happen with the armed forces, since as I understand it, they mostly have a conservative bent. I wonder if they could vote for him but still defend the constitution?
Neither you nor I find him entertaining, but clearly any number of people do as evidenced by the crowds (regardless of how small) that continue to show up to his rallies, despite the fact that he appears to ramble nearly incoherently for the entire time he's speaking.
It's also evident that the mainstream media finds him so, given all the coverage they devote to his seeming every move. Show me a full day when he wasn't in the news somewhere for something. If they didn't find him entertaining, they'd never bother to cover his rallies again, since he says nothing new at any of them and theonly thing that's needed to be said is that he once again babbled on telling the same stories he's told elsewhere, and making the same complaints and lies he's made since 2020.
As for the military, yes, they can certainly still vote for him and defend the Constitution. As I said, the majority of military members are not in the MAGA camp, and though conservative are still sword to protect and defend the Constitution, and a better than 90% of them will honor that oath, regardless of who they voted for, or for that matter, who is elected.
Thank you, Don. I do believe that most of the military will honor their oaths. I still don't understand what about him is entertaining, but I'm not going to put in a lot of effort to try to understand. His recent rant about sharks, boats and heavy batteries was new to me, and it proved to me once and for all, how not smart he is: unless his boat was backed up against a wall, he could jump overboard on the side without the shark… Not that that would help much, given that the shark could and would swim much faster (sharks know how to maneuver in water, which I doubt trump does). Since trump likes reality shows, I'm thinking that trump meets Jaws would be a good movie.
The folks who come to his rallies find him entertaining in the same way that they find NASCAR and WWE entertaining. A very small portion think that the WWE is real, but the vast majority know it's fake. Still though, they find it entertaining. As for NASCAR, I find it boring as all get-out, being much more of a Formula 1 fan myself. But, I won't glue myself to a TV every time an F1 race is on. The NASCAR fans find it entertaining because, I don't know, maybe they hope for a big crash every race. I, personally, don't see the attraction. But they do, and in this case, that's what matters.
Whatshisname is the same way.
And I found his diatribe about sharks and batteries to show he doesn't know anything about either one. Batteries don't electrify water, at least not those that power an electric boat. It also shows he knows nothing about electrical system and what happens when they are immersed in water.
Don, I think I went to a NASCAR race once, with my landlord, who was into car racing. He taught me to keep track of which car was where on each lap, and that made it less boring.
Clearly he knows nothing about batteries and sharks. I seriously doubt that a shark would want bite something that it knew would taste bad… I have snorkeled with sharks (on Bora Bora) and have learned enough to really respect what they are about. I would also be willing to bet that very few shark bites are unprovoked. I don't know too much about batteries, but I do know that a boat battery would not electrocute him. Unfortunately…
I have 4 siblings. One is actively working to re-elect Biden. One is a 💯 MAGAt that has threatened to kill me (in writing — which resulted in a restraining order. Two are sure Herr Pumpkinfuhrer will win and are choosing to bury their heads in the sand. Three guesses as to who I’m most pissed off at. In a warped way, I have more understanding for my batshit crazy sibling than for the two covering their ears and singing “la, la, la, I can’t hear you.” My family roots are Prussian Jews, Swedish and Irish. My maternal grandfather was born in Sweden, my maternal great grandmother was a GermanJew, my paternal grandfather was born in Galway. I identify as a secular Jew with Catholic guilt on the side. My kids are Korean. I have a non-binary niece, a niece who has a transgender girlfriend. I have a gay nephew, married to a black man with biracial children. I have (had) a cousin who was adopted after her mother died from AIDS. Amanda passed 10 days after her 9th birthday from AIDS. I have a cousin married to a Pakistani. I’m FUCKING terrified for all of them, And I so want to do my part. Mary, what can I do? I’m a Jewish-American woman with dual citizenship in Sweden (love, not politics) — what can I do from here?! I’m desperate!
You engage people in a rational way and although it is scary, most people are already decided. For the ones on the extreme right, don’t even try to engage or take the bait. An intelligent, thoughtful, empathic individual can not take trump seriously. For those who really do want to hear what you have to say, explain its about policies, vision, stopping the Putin’s and KimJung Un’s of the world. Helping allies and as well as our own citizens. For me it’s about keeping kleptocracy both at home and abroad at bay.
Join Field Team 6. They are a grassroots organization mobilizing their volunteers to get Democrats registered to vote in swing states. I am writing postcards in Florida. There are phone bank call groups, online texting, etc. It gives you a place to start to make a difference.
Enormous respect, Kate! You come from an even crazier than mine, and you are somehow SANE -- or at least sane enough to stand up for yourself and your beliefs. I - on the other hand - am not sane. The world outside my door terrifies me so much that I rarely venture out into it, and only when I have no choice. The insane cruelty of the whole "MAGA culture" and the virtually unrestricted proliferation of guns, mass shootings and other violence has exacerbated my phobia. I have lost 2 brothers, my mother and my beloved husband of 30 years...all of them to suicide. This is something I think about often. I can only vote and encourage my children and friends to vote, and hope that is enough. I am very grateful to have my one safe place...my government subsidized home. But will I still have it if tRumPutin wins? What about my Social Security? And what about my access to reliable news that is my connection to the world outside? Will I be able to talk with others as I'm doing RIGHT NOW? and hear from people LIKE YOU?
In the meantime, he is putting all of us through hell. This air sucking convicted felon belongs in a straight jacket and I wish the media at large would treat him as such. This is anything but a normal election, and I am so sick of the zealots knocking Biden and giving the orange monster a pass. He does nothing but lie, and his cult (including the House and Senate MAGAs) eat it up. Hell is too good for him. I hope there is a basement level of hell prepared for him.
As always, Mary Trump nails it! Donald is scared as he should be. The emperor's clothes are falling off, ghastly! There is no AI that can make that picture go away...
Yeah, they've been all over the WaPo comments sections. Even on the articles that are in favor of Biden. In those comment streams, they claim to be Democrats, or liberals, and always have the same "Biden is old and young people hate him" refrain, though it's usually pretty subtle.
"Blue" folks need to come out in DROVES, voting blue up and down the ballot, wherever they are. We need more than a tsunami. We need a winning margin so large that any attempt to appeal the win (and you know we will get a repeat performance of 2020) will be tossed out so fast, that his fat pumpkin head with dead animal hair on his head will spin like a top. And crash. ... Sidebar: need to ask. Why oh why, doesn't he spin and crash simply because he's living the very lifestyle that the medical community tells us will end us all. Bad food, stress, no exercise, no sleep, no kindness, no compassion, filled with anger. He doesn't even have a pet (thank God). He should be unalive! The only thing that makes any sense is that he's lived a life of gunk since day one, and all of the lying, racism, wish to harm, cynicism, anger, etc., literally gives him endorphin highs. That all the bad stuff has happened so long, and it's so deep, and provides the only sense of self-worth, that he get an endorphin high from being a monster. Does anyone else have any explanations? Mary Trump, can you explain it?
I’m an American living in Sweden now. A phrase that many Swedes use (in millions of situations) is “It was better before.” has irritated me. But in this election cycle, before — pre-fucking social media was almost certainly better!
Let me address this comment: "Apparently, Fox hasn’t learned a damn thing from having to fork over $787 million for lying to the American people about the 2020 election while defaming Dominion Voting Systems. . . ."
I am a retired lawyer and therefore in a position to make educated guesses; I acknowledge that they are no more than that. I highly doubt that Biden will sue Fox for defamation. Before the election, he will suffer no measurable damages. If Biden starts to do worse in the polls, he won't be able to prove that it was because of Fox's defamation of him. Could he sue to recover the cost of ads his campaign buys to counter the defamation? I don't know, but it seems unlikely.
If Biden loses the election, he won't be able to prove that it was because of Fox's defamation of him, and he won't have measurable damages beyond the loss of his presidential salary and a rent-free house. Could he sue for damages for the intentional infliction of emotional harm? I don't know, but it seems unlikely.
All these questions would break new legal ground, and in the unlikely event that Biden succeeded in a lawsuit, the six Republican politicians who pose as justices of the U.S. Supreme Court would overturn his victory.
You don't seem to know your uncle as well as you think : he will never step down, never admit to the thousands of mistakes he made (Covid, Iran nuclear deal, Paris agreement, trying to undermine NATO, most importantly : that private meeting with Vladimir Putin in Helsinki with no translator, notetaker or State Department official, which was inexcusable ! Why did the country, the department, FBi and CIA heads not make a big deal about this....?!!! You know as well as I do that the more he gets away with, the more he'll push the envelope... that's what he's doing now — until someone finally stops him !.... where is that person or institution ? We thought it was going to be Robert Mueller, until Bill Barr intervened, Impeachment Nos.1 and 2 until Mitch McConnell and Lindsey Graham turned their coats.... the list is long !... Like a Vampire, this miserable specimen of an excuse for a human being is only going to be stopped when a stake is thrust through his chest !...
Next we will find out that the assignment of the documents case to Aileen Cannon wasn’t actually “random”. Leonard Leo and Harlan Crow, et al. have plenty of money to payoff whomever assigned this case to her. They are leaving nothing to chance.

Agree.
Her boss actually recommended she recuse herself, and she refused. And the chief judge of the Southern District is a GW Bush appointee.
In any other workplace, that would be insubordination, and the person would have been written up or fired.
Jennifer, the problem is that Republicans and their "friends" do not seem to be held accountable for any of the appalling things they do. It's a Cult. Let's call them what they are. They took over the GOP. Dictators do not want a two party system. Simple as that.

She wasn't qualified to be a Supreme Court justice to begin... and probably never will be.
Yes. I didn't believe it either, that she just randomly, coincidentally, got selected again, to sit as judge...
Definitely.
I hope you’re correct about Donald stepping down. He’s really losing it and President Biden may be older but he’s on the ball and very active physically. Go Joe!💙💙🇺🇸🇺🇸 Thanks Mary!

Long ago I suggested different rooms, no audience, mics turning off. They just opted for two of the three.
Me too. I actually wrote to Joe about it. 🤓
Biden: “Donald, do you need a potty break? Do you need a diaper change?”
Marie, he doesn't have substance because he is just playing a role. That's all he's ever done. Apparently for him, life has become a reality show for TV.
I hope President Biden wipes the floor with him, so to speak. Lol
If he shows up.
If he shows up

"Corruption" happened to it

Exactly... Lobbying is completely out of control and agendas are bought and paid for.
Public servants working for the good of the whole? That’s Joe Biden. Not flashy, not bombastic, but doing the work to make our country a better place.
It’s corrupt

Mitch and Lindsay, though Confederates, are not idiots
Mary-monikered Senator "Foghorn Leghorn" Kennedy has a couple of Ivy degrees and one from Oxford
But that doesn't stop them from being power-hungry, craven, control freak Confederate maniacs

That's a bunch of bullsh*t. If those two took cognitive tests t'rump wouldn't quite understand the big words.
Joe is just fine. Don't mistake a stutter for lack of intelligence.
Barbara, I have no idea where people got the idea of a stutter meaning less than strong intelligence.
Well Susan, look at it this way.
Well put !! Lol Pumpkinfuhrer !!
Thanks, I needed a giggle!
Exactly! That rant was bizarre, odd and occasionally senseless. Weird.
Exactly, Mitch.

Will I be able to talk with others as I'm doing RIGHT NOW? and hear from people LIKE YOU?
so sorry for your loss
Please hang in there… I know it’s hard but you mentioned children. Hang on for the family you still have. Those who can are fighting this fight.
Thank you.
That's the Irish in you Lass !! Stand your ground, it's in your Bloodline!
My Mother was born and raised in Galway~I definitely inherited her "strong ways" when it comes to these situations. 💚
Mary, what do you think will happen with Aileen Cannon? Will she finally go too far and cause Jack to go to the 11th Circuit to get her off the case?
Is she possibly seeing herself as the next SCOTUS appointee?!
Um...yeah.
And why not? We already have a dumb as a box of rocks precedent to sit on the US Supreme Court. Looking at you Clarence.
Donald is going to Hell
Then for “God’s” sake, take him the fuck now!!!!!
Agree.
There will be a special place for him there right beside Hitler in the hottest corner.
Not fast enough for me.
As always, Mary Trump nails it! Donald is scared as he should be. The emperor's clothes are falling off, ghastly! There is no AI that can make that picture go away...
That image is curdling the cream in my coffee
Russian bots are out in force, as well. If one posts something, they will take a pro trump stance. Call them out! Putin needs his puppet in the WH.
Yeah, they've been all over the WaPo comments sections. Even on the articles that are in favor of Biden. In those comment streams, they claim to be Democrats, or liberals, and always have the same "Biden is old and young people hate him" refrain, though it's usually pretty subtle.

Fat chance he will drop out when Mellon just gave him $50 million and others are ponying up, too.
The gifts enable the corrupt, crazy campaign, but his cognitive decline is just too obvious.
Throwing good money after bad.
Well, we hadn't had the pandemic, either
So there's that
From your writing to the electorate's vote.💜
There were a lot of those when he was running against Clinton in 2016 too.
I don't think that he would bother, honestly.
I agree. It's just that Mary brought it up, at least implicitly.
Unlike tfg, Biden is not into lawsuits, as far as I can tell.
I agree. This POS will never quit. Never. Pure evil never does.
He learnt a thing or two from his Russian buddy, KGB strategist and undercover financier.
