Thank you for your insightful observation, Mary:

"I know this isn’t an original observation, but I think it’s worth pointing out once in a while that the reason extreme rightwing rhetoric dominates on Facebook is not because there are more rightwing accounts but because the algorithm pushes them out more. It’s another instance in which the left has one hand tied behind its back and it’s long past time we figure out what to do about it."

I wish far-right people would understand that they are being emotionally provoked by algorithms.

I wish the Democrats in Congress - they have the majority - would have anti-algorithm legislation and / or an oversight body to push back corporations algorithm invasive-ness.

I wonder if the liberal/Democratic podcasts and blogs had less traffic because of more listeners, readers watching the news more since the Russian invasion of Ukraine. I know I’m glued to CNN and MSNBC these past few weeks (I know, not healthy …).

I have been glued to MSNBC, SueJ.

I've had friends put in Facebook jail for saying something negative about Donald or the republicans, yet the right-wing rhetoric goes unchecked. Maybe my friends have "friends" who report them, but it's odd that negative -- yet not inflammatory -- liberal posters get dinged...

One of the specific things that has changed in recent years with the politicization of news and information outlets is that those on the right are falsely accusing the MSM of spreading misinformation. One of the changes that brought this about is the loss of local news, especially the news in local print newspapers that were read widely by people of all political persuasions. Additionally, the transition to social media and on-line political networks as a primary source of news. While MSM has always been accused by the right of having a liberal slant, it is only recently that the Right has resorted to actually accusing the MSM of intentionally spreading false information (misinformation). As a result, our population is being split into two groups of people with completely different truths. People are now choosing to sole source their information based upon their political leaning; left or right. That change is dangerous and presents a real conundrum, because we end-up with diametrically opposing beliefs among our people with absolutely no way to reconcile the differences.

To see the danger; one need only look to a recent news story in which a son in Ukraine was trying to convey to his father in Russia that the Russian Army was attacking and laying waste to the Ukraine. The son was simply trying to convey what he was seeing with his own eyes and what was actually happening on the ground, but the father did not believe it. The son could not convince his father of the truth. Why? The misinformation (propaganda) coming from the news networks in Russia which is their primary and sole source of information.

We are in deep trouble unless we can figure-out a means to change this dynamic in America.

Sources that give good info on Ukraine without a lot of hype and weird sound effects: MSNBC, DW, Channel 4 UK, Kyiv Independent Facebook, WarsawInstitute.org for military analysis. I watch them all on youtube in smallish doses. I served in Kyiv when I was in early 30s and I've had some bad dreams. I wish everyone who ever lived there would write mini memoir and share photos and videos to keep it alive in our memory as it was.

Via my Satellite 📡 dish everything repeated over and again all day from MSNBC. Nothing was the same with my favored ones gone and the same screen shots. Horrible shows and lots of ads to buy each program. A bit here and there about the president’s plans with NATO which only made me look at my Stevie’s award from NATO and cry. Too much sadness for me today. Just had to duck a bit and check in on the hour. I called two of my fellow MFC counselors and they made me laugh.

Those on the extreme far right and Trump followers need more vindication, and therefore listen to more of the far right podcasts. Liberals don't need their moral and intellectual beliefs to be reinforced so listen less. We don't need our beliefs that the election was far and legal re-enforced, or that abortion should be available for all or that natl. health care is beneficial or that the minimum salary should be higher.

Thank you, Take Care, and I look forward to seeing you Thursday on your live YouTube podcast,

I think today. One day later. I am too torn apart. Hearing of the mother. And her baby. Of their deaths. I think soon. Just cannot see. How I dared to think. Countries of the world would. They would. They would. They would what?

This is a serious question because I don't know about algorhythms but couldn't they write ones that would magnify womanist/ humanist outlooks and make them most profitable? Sorry, I am a specialist on Russian misinformation and propaganda. They just make stuff up and close off media.
