Aristotle wanted monarchy and opposed direct democracy and republics because direct democracy and republics led to demagoguery, Big Money, and mob rule (not in the sense of ochlocracy, but in the sense of stereotypical Stupublicans and before the political realignment Dixiecrats, as well as the fanatics in the socialistic movement - like the anarchists and syndicalists, the latter including proto-fascists and the fascistic movement).
