Oops. Another Republican has been caught with his hand in a Russian cookie jar. What surprise. Not!

Seems pretty obvious that Speaker Johnson should be ousted not only from the Speakership, but also from Congress. Too much secrecy going on such as how does he not have a bank or savings account for his payroll checks? There is definitely some sort of subterfuge at play and we need answers NOW!

True, but I’ll believe him being thrown out when I see it. All those January 6th conspirators should be thrown out, too, but it doesn’t happen.

Just a different breed of SANTOS who I’m sure is also tied to Vladimir Putin

Maria Butina was released from prison in 2019 and deported back to Russia. She’s now an elected member of the Duma.

Forgot to mention he claims not to have checking or savings accounts(in his name, wife’s or children’s ) And lists no assets.I personally find this very, very odd.

My hubby laughed at me when I told him we're currently in the midst of a Civil War and World War simultaneously where the current battlegrounds are on the internet and in media. He agreed Civil War perhaps and asked how a World War - I said "Red Dawn" is happening as we speak from within halls and chambers of government at all levels. I worked a contract job to rebuild an entire IT infrastructure for an American company that fell victim to cyber warfare from the Russians when they interfered in the 2016 elections. I'm beyond NDA so I can tell you this was a highly coordinated attack that's meant to create weaknesses they will exploit even years from now -both Russia and China are working together in this respect.

I'm not surprised their influence has gotten this far and I'm just a below average citizen who can see the cracks in systems most corporations want swept under the rug because $$$ is more important than human beings and National Security.

Totally agree. I wrote a piece along similar lines about a year ago — how hybrid WW3 is here and the turf war is mostly for US elections/power. Cheers

He should take you very seriously. You're right about everything but one: Below average citizens don't see the brittleness of our collective infrastructure and call it out. It's not a matter of IF the proverbial lights will go out, it's a question of WHEN.

Expand full comment

I am concerned about the phrase “call them out.”

They have no shame. No remorse.

The only guardrail we ever had was the fact that most people aspiring to high office would be embarrassed for their neighbors to know of their misdeeds.

These people have learned that embarrassment is short lived. Riches and power are longer lasting.

Most DEFINITELY, Tuberville is a RUSSIAN TRAITOR

I think Tuberville is actually too stupid to act as a useful idiot.

Definitely but not too stupid to be brainwashed!

But not a surprise with this crew. The Russians have cozied up to so many Republicans who are in power. Of course, the most obvious one owes you $5 million.

Note that the Russians have funded anti-LGBT groups in a number of countries around the world. It should not be a surprise that they are doing it here also.

At the end of Donald's time in office, according to Cassidy Hutchinson's book, there was a regular document burnfest in fireplaces for weeks in the west wing. Some were "declassified" and others were saved, hidden or archived. She names the firemasters and their cub scouts...

But he has no bank account. He must be regularly trotting down to the check cashing joint.

he doesn't have to do that even, simply sign a check and say pay to the order of and then write in another persons name and they can cash it. Bank will put a 10 day hold on it and as soon as it is paid, will release the hold.

If we “have questions” about such a situation then the answer is obvious.

I am thankful for all of Mary’s insights. Because your friends will tell you (and I consider myself one of your friends, Mary, even if we’ve never met and it’s unlikely we ever will); I share this: According to Wikipedia, Butina was released from prison 10/25/2019. I remember seeing footage of her leaving the U.S.A. or re-entering (I think it was) Russia. Someone else may recall where she went (if it wasn’t Russia).

Many thanks. Keep writing.

Maria Butina worked for Torshin in Russia before her US mission & jail term. She became a Member of Parliament after her return.

Nancy Pelosi was right: everything leads back to Russia.

And it's another reminder that the first Big Lie from the GOP was and remains "America first."

I’m only surprised when it turns out a republican didn’t take money from Russia.

Expand full comment

Thank you, Mary, for this maddening and infuriating information.

I wonder if Matt Gaetz is secretly taking Russian money, too, since he made it easy for a Russian pawn or asset, Mike Johnson, to to run the US House of Representatives, which automatically gives Mike Johnson a top secret security clearance.

Just wondering.

Expand full comment

Does the Speaker of the House not need the normal security background check? I'd only heard of the president as avoiding the security check.

Expand full comment

Truly? It doesn't make a difference if there is a president in the WH who throws temper tantrums and demands a person be given a security clearance anyway...remember how Jared was given one simply because trump threw a tantrum and said do it anyways? Not saying Biden WOULD do so, but then again, if given a situation that those in the GOP will refuse to sign off on every thing the president ever puts in front of them, who knows which president will do what, anymore? Do you honestly think that there is any president amongst all of those who have ever been president that doesn't have some sort of secret agreement or another with someone? I believe every single president has had something or another that they have done that has not been found out about. None of them are completely honest or legit, there are a maybe a handful that might fit the category of almost, but I would bet a dollar every single one has done something dishonest or said something untruthful and swore by it.

Expand full comment

I don't understand why the Speaker of the House and the President of the US aren't scrutinized through background checks!?! I guess the same holds true for the Vice President? That seems absurd to me! What about committee members where Top Secret or Secret info is seen and discussed. Are they just handed a security clearance too?!? Maybe anyone running for those offices should be investigated before they can be on the ballot, including members of the Senate and Congress. All these people have access to our nation's most sensitive information. Keeping our democracy intact depends on employing trustworthy individuals who exhibit high standards and morals, unlike TFG.

Expand full comment

I'm not sure what TFG means, but like you said, keeping our democracy intact depends on employing individuals who exhibit high standards and morals. It does, absolutely...but how do you make sure that happens, especially nowadays, when we now have AI and the dark web? Anybody can make up stuff and insert things into a persons record or history, and it is very difficult and expensive to even begin to get some things removed or taken out, just start with a persons credit report, or somebody who has been a victim of identity theft! That can be a nightmare and alot of time and money even, to clean up all on its own if there are mistakes or purposeful mistruths in it, can you imagine having to or even trying to clean up a personal history that others have purposely tried to or done things that are untrue yet damaging, simply to blacken a reputation? I can see that as being a huge nightmare for some. I don't have the answer myself, but I can tell you, it sure isn't as easy as it used to be, to simply refute something and have it cleared up. Just ask a victim of identity theft....there are some out there who will never get rid of the bs that has been said or done to their histories.
