He seems to me set to play a "long game," in which he will continue in a steady, unreactive manner and fit his boundary setting to the situation. I would not be at all surprised if he ended up putting Trump in jail to "cool off," perhaps for a brief period. This is fashioned on how one deals effectively with a misbehaving toddler who screams and yells angrily about everything, but does not have the power to change his situation. The Judge just needs to be consistent in his dealings and not lose his cool. He is the adult in the room, and must deal not only with DJT, but with his lawyers, who are more like manipulative, misbehaving adolescents who think they are smarter than he. I doubt he will deal in threats, but in "logical consequences." When Trump's lawyers realize (or not) how they are neutered, they should calm down. I’m actually rather surprised they let him have a phone. Most courts will have you place them in a baggie when you go through security. Although that may vary for state and county.

Monetary penalties and fines are not going to shut Trump up. It's time for Judge Merchan to "snap Donald's poop" by jailing him for a week with no cellphone or outside communication except with his lawyers. Then if he subsequently breaks the gag order, double the time and give him 14 days in jail. However, this should not stop the trial from moving forward. Donald can be a part of the trial on a closed circuit TV loop in his jail cell. At that point it will be interesting to see if the intolerant brat can just shut his obnoxious mouth and let the judicial process move forward. But I have my doubts, as his need for constant attention feeds on his ability to create chaos, conflict and confusion!

I’m appalled by Watter’s actions. Normal juror identities are a matter of public record. However, this is not a normal criminal trial. It’s bigger than a mob trial because of Trump, et. Al’s terrorist tactics. I don’t care if Watters if fired, because obviously Fox wants the ad money. I hope he’s convicted instead. If the trial doesn’t go Trump’s way, all jurors who didn’t ’vote the right way’ are in danger.

As I was reading that, I was very disheartened and after what happened today, what I worried about came true this morning with some jurors leaving. The jurors need more protection and the media needs to back off so they can do their duty to the best of their ability without worrying about their personal safety.
I too appreciate that. I identified with the oncology RN & thought, “someone will figure out who she is”. Thankfully it was family, friends & co-workers and she was strong enough to speak up before the kooks caused even more stress in her life…healthcare workers haven’t begun to get over our pandemic stress, she did not need that that additional stress in her life.
All of the jurors who can qualify are entering a life altering experience, let alone the huge commitment they must make to be there as often as the court convenes and the delay tactics run their course. Fox's Waters is trying to assure they all feel intimidated.
They will identify them anyway. Someone will leak the info and it will be put online somewhere. The Bush admin published Valerie Plame as a CIA agent and she had to scramble to get her agents and sources out of the ME. They did it to get et revenge/threaten her husband who was a nuke investigator who outed the bush admin’s lies about WMDs in Iraq. If they are willing to do that then they are willing to leak names and addresses of those jurors.

I am looking forward to Judge Merchan's dressing down of The Donald I think he will go about it in stern, business-like, fashion--probably feeling but not showing anger. A predatory narcissist can deal better with someone confronting him angrily, because it gives an opening to deny his intentions and declare victim hood. It seems to me that Judge Merchan is a psychologically healthy person with wide experience in dealing with sociopaths and narcissists. He has a "template" to predict what their reactions will be. His behavior likely will make Trump highly anxious and he will find it difficult, if not impossible, to contain himself. The judge may be treated to an emotional "victimy" outburst. I can't wait for Tuesday!

@Henry Cohen. Not sure I agree with you. I believe Judge Merchan has a plan for dealing with The Orange Menace, and will not play his cards too soon. He seems to me set to play a "long game," in which he will continue in a steady, unreactive manner and fit his boundary setting to the situation. I would not be at all surprised if he ended up putting Trump in jail to "cool off," perhaps for a brief period. This is fashioned on how one deals effectively with a misbehaving toddler who screams and yells angrily about everything, but does not have the power to change his situation. The Judge just needs to be consistent in his dealings and not lose his cool. He is the adult in the room, and must deal not only with DJT, but with his lawyers, who are more like manipulative, misbehaving adolescents who think they are smarter than he. I doubt he will deal in threats, but in "logical consequences." When Trump's lawyers realize (or not) how they are neutered, they should calm down. The Donald and Fox News will continue to rant for a while, but they will be met with a strong "brick wall." No telling what kind of behavior that will produce, since they are not actually toddlers, and could become increasingly desperate and unglued. Not sure what crazy lawyers do in such a situation--possibly cut and run. Donald's anger may turn to hopelessness and he may manifest in sullen depression. Mary can tell us more what to expect from him. I am concerned about possible violence and hope the judge and prosecutors have a plan for that--possibly jail for all of them?

Tomorrow he learns of the evidence against him, which portends a major tantrum. How can anyone think he cares about anyone but himself after causing the young, female teacher to step away from jury duty? She is a new citizen wanting to exercise her civic duty. I grew up in Queens with a bunch of idiots like DFG. They positively enjoy acting out, if for no other reason than it pisses people off. They do not stop, ever. It will be a Herculean task to keep him controlled enough to get through the current trial, let alone the federal ones.
