Congress is in Recess? How can you tell?!

Expand full comment

Mike Johnson is committed to the goals of Project 2025. His motive seems to be his cult-like adherence to a sect that rewrites the Bible and Christian principles to suit their biases and proclivities. He strongly believes every citizen needs to be forced to follow his beliefs.

Mike Johnson is part of a Trump MAGA Cult soon to be replaced with new politicians that hold country over party; that doesn’t create conspiracy theories or intimidate votes and respects the rights for women to care for their bodies!

Can't wait to say and wear this "Bye Don: Good riddance" t-shirt 👇 🤣

Well stated Heather, fingers crossed on the cultist demise, but this country is littered with unctuous derps in search of any kind of acceptance!

Isn’t that the truth. It appears they are trying to outdo each other, day after day.

Wow Patrick ! What a splendid description.

I absolutely agree!! Thank you for your post and the information, Ms. Heather.B, thank you so much to you and to Ms. Mary L. Trump.

Oh look! Now your name is Heather. Still the same old spammer posting on progressive sites trying to sell shitty overpriced tee shirts.

People should boycott Libtees. This person is taking advantage of us, shamelessly.

Expand full comment

Yes. Well said, Heather. Only problem is, Trump will cheat. Most of the Republican Party will pander to him. Some states will accommodate him. He will scream bloody murder if he doesn’t get his way. They will rewrite laws if they have to. In short, he will change times and laws.

I sure hope you are right! I will be dancing with everyone!

Because the chaos and crazy dissipate when they aren't in DC doing "work."

Expand full comment

I get what you're saying, but… I'm still seeing the crazy all over the place. Recess doesn't shut them up, they just aren't being awful in the halls of congress.

Expand full comment

Isn't recess for returning to their states and districts to help their constituents and not running off to other states to interfere in their election process, Mr. Lindsey Graham?

Expand full comment

Help their constituents? Are you kidding?? Our representative in the house does that all the time, but she's a democrat. Have we ever known Ted Cruz to visit El Paso? I just googled it and he is apparently meeting with county business leaders and discussing border security. BUT -IMO- it's because he's getting desperate, because Colin Allred has a good chance of ousting him from the senate. Even though he is of hispanic heritage, he care nothing for the vast majority of our population, plus I'm sure he is in favor of Greg Abbott's razor wire in the Rio Grande. Lindsay Graham is something else again, too.

Trump has represented racism and hatred since he first ran for president. I can't believe he won once, but if he were to win again, America will be a mess.

Expand full comment

In truth, he has represented racism and hatred for his whole life.

Expand full comment

Very true, but I didn't pay any attention to him until he ran for president the first time! The sad part is, he hates his supporters too! They are not rich so they are not important to him. We cannot let him win this time!

Expand full comment

Jan, I didn't pay attention to him earlier, either. I've just learned who he's always been. I can't fathom hating one's supporters, but I get that that is who he is. I wish his supporters would get it and abandon him. That's an idea that makes me smile.

Expand full comment

With all due respect, I disagree with your comment about 45 ever winning the first time. I remember how vile, and nasty he was during the campaign against Hillary Clinton. I was outraged at the hostility, and total disrespect. Knowing what I know about 45, he cheated, and stole the election.

Expand full comment

Yes he has from refusing to rent to African Americans to tossing them out of his apartments even when they had no place to go ( brings to mind the 90-something very sick woman with no family and he didn’t care) .

Expand full comment

Mickey, I just ate breakfast (which was wonderful) but trump and who he is just make me feel sick to my stomach. The one thing I know is that when people don't care about you when you're young, you don't learn to care about others. Fortunately, some of us who endured that have been able to grow past that. It is possible to learn to care. My experience is that it takes a lot of work, but trump has never even considered doing anything to change himself. He's always gone for the easy way out.

Expand full comment

Yes he has.

Expand full comment

America will collapse under 45!. It is desintegrating every day.

Expand full comment

I'm so looking forward to his jail time. He can talk and talk all day, and no one will listen. I hope he goes away for the rest of his life, and the Republican Party can pick up the pieces and start over again.

Since before he ran for President. I live in NYC and he makes me sick. Always had (always will).

Gerrymandering and Electoral College allowed him the presidency not the popular vote. I fear it could happen again and that’s why we must be majority in both houses.

Especially in the Senate - think Supreme Court appointments. Harris must have the Senate to get any of her policies through.

Trump has represented racism and hatred since he was thrown out of NYC public schools for being a bigoted, misbehavin' brat.

They forgive each other for the normalized hatred, racism, misogyny, and ugliness they exhibit everyday. They break the first Commandment by placing themselves in God’s place. I’m not sure a God who calls us to love one another would be quite as forgiving without repentance and revision of behavior.

Expand full comment

They are hypocrites of the first order. Historically individuals like this have always existed, and many of us are aware of this, but possessing this knowledge doesn’t make their existence any easier. It is nice to know that they always fail, and good always prevails. For me my political awareness came to be after Bush #1 & #2, speaking to others (Americans and knowledgable citizens of other countries) while traveling outside of the US, researching the unbelievable, and experiencing the Real Estate Crash from 2008 - 2011. The daily exhibition of the GOP, the emergence of IQ 45 and his cult, all of the public mendacity, constant racism, continuous willful ignorance and their presence in the daily news cycle - is exhausting.

They call themselves Christians, yet their every word and action is antithetical to their claim. Hearing, watching and seeing their antics is exhausting, but not enough so that I will not continue to fight them with every fiber of my being-with a few days off to recharge my “batteries”.

None of these so-called Christian republicans really, truly believe in God. If they did they’d be quivering in their boots, thinking about facing Him come Judgment Day. It’s not just the racism, misogyny et al, it’s the sadism. They enjoy harming others; actually get off on it.

No, God and the Bible are just weapons they use to place judgment and shame other people, and beat them over the head with. But that never applies to them, of course.

I knew a man from a previous church, he stated at a Bible study that it is his “divine right to judge others, because God called him as a Christian to make sure others live according to the Commandments.”

I guess all the porn in his ‘vehicle’ that my husband worked on, didn’t count against him since he has such a close, supervisory position with God. He must get special permissions and all.

That’s prolly why Holy Mike Johnson is allowed to be such a skeevy, sleazy, lyin’ hypocritical bag of shit.

I don't believe that Mary's uncle, Donald was loyal to any political party. The only loyalty that he believes in is to him.

I agree, Paula. In April, on a trip to France, I walked along the beaches of Normandy and thought about the young men who died there to save us from fascism. On a good note: starting with the New York Times this morning, it appears the media may just be starting to stop writing about a "horse race" and start writing about the very serious threat to democracy represented by their MAGA leader, Donald Trump, his minions and especially his many corrupt elected Congressional officials.

As a footnote: in my opinion, it should be noted by all that, in addition to his being a malignant narcissist, Trump has two major, basic problems: 1.) he is ignorant, which is curable, and 2.) he is stupid, which isn't curable and seriously works against number one, his colossal ignorance.
