My brain has been so frozen for the past few years I can only say thank you until it has thawed sufficiently to find a place in the discussion. I’ve never before found myself so distant and unable. Gratefully I see a path here where I can restart my motor.
I see our society in various states of denial. Your uncle's cult is stuck in all three of the first stages: Denial & Isolation--hiding from the truth--anger about it, and bargaining towards the return of their leader. Anti-vaxxers are part of a larger group that is anti-science and anti-its industry representatives (the abusive father; from whom they retreat into gossippy "back to Mother Earth" projections). Yes, there are mistakes and abuse; and there is the saying about the baby and the bathwater! We are hiding from depression -- and the healing it can bring! And climate change: no one wants their climate to change, God forbid! So let's deny that! So what's the treatment to be, doctor?
I’m really enjoying this subscription! The flow of the conversation between you and Molly Jong Fast made my drive time dose of political jousting from the right a lot easier to listen to and a welcome change by far . Looking forward to more engaging conversation .
